Yamaha TW200.. the swamp donkey

I got the fender and tank in the mail today. Happy with how they look on the bike, unhappy with the hole in the tank that was advertised as not having any holes. Ebay seller is being a tool about it too, unfortunately. Oh well, at least it'll look cool once fixed.

nohole means residence in Hawaiian. That was a mistranslation, dude. Mixed language ads can be hard to understand.

Oh great, now my tank leaks gas and it's racist.

Ha, nice, file a claim in Ebay, they side with the buyer 99.999% of the time and refund your money then take it out of the seller's account. It may take 30 days but you'll have the $$ back to make fixing the tank less painful. It looks rad on there.

Wow. That's a huge number to be such a dick. I wonder if it is somebody working for a business that is being the dick, not the owner.

Wondered the same myself. They have 1 negative feedback in the last year. The way they (or at least an employee) is acting, I'm about to do everything I can to make that number change to two. The latest reply said that ill just have to take it up with eBay. I intend to, fruitless as it may be.

That's outrageous. What an arse.

Tell you what though, tank looks great on the bike - hole notwithstanding ???

thanks gents, I think so too. Once I get rid of the blue on the frame and replace it with black, I think everything will tie in quite nicely, for a ridiculous scrap heap bike that is.

I do love the little quirks of how the tw200 and bw200 stuff is made and is modular. The brake drums bolt onto the hubs which makes is super easy for a quick refresh on the south bend. I only took enough material off to smooth the grooves out, then a nice 80 grit cross hatch to help seat the new pads.

After staring at the rear hub a bit more, I decided that I wanted to beef it up a bit more than it is, being as it is really just a modified front wheel that now is doing the duty of a rear wheel. There were a couple weak points that glared at me as something that would possibly leave me stranded out in the middle of the woods.

I cut up 4 gussets out of 1" square tubing and welded them in. Safe to say its probably not going to flex or break now.

Levi when you say "Beef it up". You don't mess around.
Haha, weight vs strength I got alot of "bang for my buck."

1" × 1" x 1/8" wall square tubing weights 1.44 lb. per linear foot.

I used 14 linear inches of tubing for those gussets for a total of 1.68lbs. Add the weld wire and its still a sub 2 lb mod. I know that'd be alot on a race bike, but it's well worth the added strength on a trail machine imho. Ill just take a healthy dump before each ride and call it even.

I need to weigh the stock tw tear wheel against this assembly and see where its at comparably. I'm still thinking ill be lighter than original being as it's now a 12" aluminum wheel vs a 14" spoked steel wheel and I also no longer need a tube like the stock tw wheel.

Not a huge issue on this bike, to be sure, but just to play Devil's Advocate: It is unsprung weight. :p
