Crusty Cafe RD350

Gonna give some new life to a crusty 1975 Yamaha RD350b. It had been sitting for 20+ years in a shed in Philly. Everything is there and all electric works even the bulbs were good.

Plans are a rebuilt motor, new exhaust, a good mechanical once over, new rubber and back on the street. A mild cafe look with the "crusty" patina. My first bike build/cleanup and a 2-stroke! Should be an adventure. Hoping to be riding come spring.

Welcome. Best advice that I got here was to not even try to start the old 2t and just rebuild it first. Dry seals are no good for that motor. Good luck and take your time, everythings gonna be alright.

Already started engine rebuild. Totally apart and cases cleaned. Ready to check out internals for wear.

My crank checked out and just need outer bearings and new seals. Big thanks to Eric over at Oily Pipes for all the advice and suggestions.

Got parts on order for engine. Bottom end should be buttoned up by mid January. Cylinder boring after that.

Bottom end bolted up. Cylinders and heads out for machining and blasting. Some engine pieces in prep for paint. Picked up rearsets cheap off ebay, hope to make them work.
