Engine/frame compatibility?

Hello everyone! Well recently I bought a a 1976 Honda CJ250t but with the hope of finding a 360 engine. Can a just slap on a 360t engine if I happen to find one? How can one know if a bigger engine will fit ie a slightly later cb 400 engine?

Well, any motor can fit any frame if you can make it fit, long story short. They probably won't bolt in directly, though. If you are skillful and determined, you might be able to fab up some new motor mounts and modify the frame, but this isn't something that is going to be simple or quick.

360 motor will fit, later 400 will need some serious frame modifications to frame
