Yamaha CS2-E

Hi forum members, I recently rescued a very elderly 180cc Yamaha CS2-E which I found rotting in a barn, the bike blew a piston in 1993 so the owner took the motor apart put it all in 3 boxes and left it behind the tractor in his barn. A few weeks ago I got a call from his wife who told me the bike was going to be dumped so I grabbed a trailer and drove 200 kms to pick it up. Anyhow, I'm attempting to restore/reconstruct this little twin to some form of ride-able shape. Basically the whole bike is there and the whole engine just like a big jigsaw. Any help with getting bits would be appreciated, everyone I talk to about this CS2-E say it is a bit rare and finding things like bearing numbers etc is quite hard.

Engine cases cleaned and awaiting the new bearings and the crankshaft rebuild with new pistons, rebore will go out to a true 200cc.

Looks like you are making good progress. I had a 180 many years ago. They are good engines and pretty quick for their size.

OK finally some progress, huge huge thanks to Steve Cooper my English connection for parts, the $1300 worth of bits arrived in New Zealand only to be ransomed by the Customs dept who demanded another $309 to release them grrr, I mean what had they done to deserve that? I couldn't get the parts in NZ so I wasn't depriving someone here of employment, just plain thievery! Rant over, it was like Xmas, all them wee packages to unwrap, I can do all the work on this bike myself apart from splitting the crank to replace the con-rods and shims so I'm hoping the guru I contacted before is still able to help me. I still need to get the pipes repaired as they had rotted out underneath, tops look OK so visually they will pass. One thing that does concern me is the clutch basket which took such a hit when the engine stopped so suddenly 23 years ago, it bent the con-rod, cracked the piston and I'm guessing this is same time the damage to the drive gear on back of the clutch basket. Not sure if it can be welded and ground back or not, it is solid apart from the chips from the shoulders of the slot.
