CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland "got some nice lines now"

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

not sure, but i think the CB400 fours still had 33mm forks, in which case you could get a top triple from a CB360 (or CB350G) which has rubber mounted handlebar brackets that can be removed leaving a 'lightening hole' effect which would save you some grinding to get rid of the bar mounts... just a thought! looks good! keep at it!

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

If you like, I could mill them down for you (I live in Arnhem).
Can't see it in the picture, but it may be possible to mill the whole top surface flat, and then sand it (if its thick enough).

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

So i finaly got a measurement tool to measure the forks, ( even dough i was stupid enough to trust on the internet for the forksize ) turend out they are not 41mm but 33mm  So i'll have to sell this set,

But now i had them anyway i put them on the bike just for mock up.

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

I warned you, didn't I? ;)

"Volgens het DTT thread hier ( http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=20950.0) heeft jouw motor een 41mm vork, maar dat kan per jaar verschillen dus alleen met een schuifmaat weet je het zeker."

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

HAHA, nice work on the seat shape...while on vacation.
i like the proportions you are going after on the bike, Can't wait to see it finished

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

I like the shape of the seat fairing! I am curious to see how well that styrofoam turns out, I usually use a more dense foam.

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

So, that was a nice little vacation, the progress belowwww
wrapped the foam in some painterstape, and starterd fiberglassing the bitch

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

I really like the shape.
On the picture its on top of the frame, after fiberglassing it will be over the frame, so the bottomline of the seat will be the same as the tank,

Sorry for the shitty pics, :-[

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

Looking good! What's the plan for upholstery? There's a dude over at motor-forum.nl who does it for €60-ish...

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

What are you using for a tail/brakelight set up?

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

So lucky to live in holland. I'm Dutch... But from the USA . But have been to the Netherlands 2x.... Beautiful county.... Amazing craftsmanship to be seen. I have a better undersatanding why I think the way I do.... It's the Dutch way.
The build is comming out great... Keep up the pride! Another one saved. I can see the pictures of it done in front of fields of tulips or in front of the Heineken brewery... Cheers

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

I wasn't feeling your seat design until now, looks like you got a great profile.

Re: CB400F first cafe racer | from Holland

Thanks guys,

Its been a few weeks, but did some small things on the bike

Got the bike out so i had some better light

The exhaust bolt where so round n rusted ( just like the exhaust itself, that i needed to cut it true :( )
the bright side of this point, that i have to buy build a exhaust myself, im thinking of 2 short pipes at each side ??

also started on sanding the tank, suprise i got like 4 color's on it, so im not gonna send it all down but ill buy some paint killer

Also adjusted te seat so it will fit on the frame and it will follow the bottom line of the thank:

i look kinda messy n fugly right now, but trust me this seat is gonne rock!

Also got the front fork out so i can start on cleaning the tripple tree

One quistion, the big bolt on top of the tripple tree is really really stuck, is there a way to loosen it?
The plan for now is to keep laying layers of fiberglass over the seat ( 3-4 ) and now focus on the fron

-making the tripple tree flat
-buy some fitting clip-ons
-buy get all the rust of the forks, wheels etc.-
-buy a sexy ass headlight
-get the frontbrake working, including a new brakeline
Thats it for now, thanks for watching
