So Currently I don't have a picture of my broken mount so I am using one from online as reference.
I do not have the pieces, the cover came this way. As I am almost done with my total wire/bolt up rebuild I do not want to buy a new cover. Anyone have any crazy good ideas to fix this? Can I drill just behind the where it broke and cut a new slit for the cable? or should I JB Weld a nut or something similar in the existing spot and do it that way? These are some ideas I have had, mind you I have been busting my ass the last week (staying up way late) to finish this so I may not be thinking perfectly clear....and the search bar has failed me.
Side note, any first time after motor bore things I should do before her first ride? Like bump the starter several times without spark plugs to build up oil pressure...things like that?
You can file off the broken bits, then make a new hole further in...Just be sure that it doesn't cause an awkward angle for the cable. Usually when the manufacturer puts something in a specific spot its for a reason.
That is on the side cover, correct? I just re-read and since you don't have the pieces your best bet would be to cut the broken bit off, have someone weld some aluminum stock same thickness and then recreate the hole and slit for cable.

This was my exact thought, I figured it may be too sharp of an angle but figured I would ask if someone had successfully done it.

Well, I might know someone to tig it.....if not I am JBWelding it, although with it being right next to the exhaust all that thermal change may be too hard on the old JB......
Here's one on EBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/79-82-HONDA-CB650-80-81-CB650C-RIGHT-SIDE-ENGINE-CLUTCH-COVER-11330-426-315/142058099968?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37427%26meid%3D0f8ecc91e63d4b079fc144609cff5d17%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D120409742064
Unless you know someone that can weld it, your best option would be to purchase another used one.

I will be meeting with a welder tonight who will give me my answer. A few beers and a piece of stock beats $27 everyday! I will update tomorrow!

TUNA FTW. Just weld it up with a suitable AC TIG welder and grind it flat and drill a suitable hole - or buy that one on ebay. I hate throwing things out but that covert is too cheap not to get it.
Well, after much discussion last night with my welder. He seemed iffy about welding to cast aluminum, but we decided we could try it with some special custom pieces. That is, untill I just bought one off ebay a few minutes ago for $21 shipped!!!!!
FF to 3min and educate yourself, you never know when you might need to fix cast. the eBay case is the best bet, but cast aluminum is a simple fix with AC TIG

That was a great video, I want to learn to TIG so dang bad! My mig skills are decent, but the only TIG machine I have access to is my brothers and he works nights so it never gets to happen. I will be sending him this video however, I think we will follow this and repair the broken one just for a backup.
