Riding from Seattle to San Francisco in early summer - Where to go?

I'm planning a 7 or 8 day trip from Seattle to San Francisco during the last week of May/first week of June. I'm planning on camping most nights and maybe grabbing a hotel once or twice. I'm working on my route currently and I'm looking for input on any great roads/sights/parks that I should stop at along the way. Your advice is appreciated!

I'd say take 101 and Highway one, that way you can be on the coast. I'd probably cut over either through Astoria and pass through cannon beach, or cut over once you get past Mt. Shasta/ Shasta lake in Northern California. Everything from Shasta to the bay area is open, hot, and boring. The coast would be a lot more fun in my opinion.

Definitely take the coast highway. Kinda dull around Lincoln City Oregon, other than that, not a bad way to spend a week on 2 wheels. I'd suggest a stop in Seaside or Tillamook for your first night, walk off the sore muscles in your legs, and then you can do farther each remaining day.
