After finishing the last one at the end of summer I picked up a non running CB550 to build up. Hopefully this one goes faster than the last.

Found it way out in west va. The guy I bought it from said he had title then never found it so ill be having fun with DMV for a few months. Bike only has 14k miles so its semi clean.

After seeing this post, I just went through all 22 pages of your 750 build. Amazing work done. I cant wait to see how this one turns out. Very nice work man.

So I had to get the monster running and now I've moved on to the 550.

I've ordered the allballsbearings. I just have fork tossed in there now. It's a gsxr 1000 front end

Right on man...I am very interested to see how this turns out. I have toyed with the idea of doing an inverted front end.

im at the same stage just fitting my 07 gsxr 600 front end on my bike as well.. i havent put it together completely with the all balls kit cause i need the frame sand blasted still, but seems like the stem is going to be a little long. thoughts?

I should have the bearings in Friday so maybe sometime after the holiday I can throw them on and see how it fits. It's actually a 07-08 front end

sounds good, yeah i just didnt want to install the bearings, then take them out, powder the frame, then put them in again.. it looks like the stem is going to be just a little too long when i had mine mocked up.. guess we'll find out!

i also have a good connection for the front hub axle, spacers etc if your thinking about putting a spoked front wheel on and using both the calipers, thats my plan.. i should have all the machined parts back this weekend so check my thread as ill update some pics for ya

I plan to cut this frame all up so I wanna be sure it fits before powder and get the stance right

Okay so I used the stock lower bearing outer race to make up the space so things worked out right. Hope pics explain very simple. I'm sure there are other ways of doing this. I didn't look into it just went for it and this is what I came up with.

Extra space above. The problem with this is that the inner race on the fork wouldn't allow for it.

So I'm I ordered a gsxr 1000 wheel to match the front not realizing how massive it really is. Looks completely ridiculous for a 50hp bike. But still looks bad ass to me. This will require some kind of custom swing arm. To bad cause I bought it cause I figured going with gsxr wheels would be cheaper than custom spoked wheels.

I'm just going to throw some loud pipes on it so it sounds fast

Just so everyone knows the hub on the gsxr is 28mm vs 20mm of the cb550. Offset of front sprocket is about an 1 1/4. Haven't figured that out yet or how I will do it...

Maybe a mono shock and custom swing arm? Can the front sprocket be pushed out far enough to clear, with out putting too much stress on the shaft?
