So today i picked up this honda cm400e that runs and drives. I rode it and it stopped and shifted as it should. Originally i went to trade it for a dirtbike i got 2 days ago and an rc car, but seller and i looked over the dirt bike to find out it might have blown rings. So it didn't go as planned. But as we talked he took the rc car an 200 cash for the honda. Seller bought bike in Montana and moved to Massachusetts. So there is things i need to change to pass inspection.
So far i need to change the exhaust straight pipes as they won't pass. It needs a front fender and bulb changes. And i need to figure out how to hook up the front brake light as it isn't connected due to an aftermarket cheap front brake mechanism.
Over all I'm happy with the bike it's loud i wish i could keep the pipes and make them pass. Will take new pics tomorrow after work. The seat has custom fabric that has card suits on it which Is cool. This isn't my first bike more like my 15th granted I've only had 5 on the road. Hopefully this project won't be much of a project.

I hear a spark arrester would work for the exhaust, what do you all think?
I'm gonna research exhausts that will fit.

Cheapest option that should pass inspection would be some mufflers from DCC:

Each to their own and all that, but those straight through things must sound horrible.

Thank you i will keep this in mind looks nice too.

They don't sound to terrible but not great either.

Does anyone know if I can get a front brake control from another bike, since the one on it is I think from a dirtbike so it has no plug in for the front brake switch. I've been looking on ebay but can't come across any Originals for the E. Thanks

You mean the front master cylinder? Yes master cylinders from other bikes will work. Just make sure it's the right size for your handlebars and the right piston size. I grabbed a nissin unit off eBay with the appropriate sizes. Mine came off a newer suzuki. Just have to do some searching.

Nice looking bike too!

Isn't the master cylinder for the brakes that use brake fluid? Or is it the same with units that use brake cables. If they are both called that I had no idea this whole time abd feel pretty dumb haha.

A while back I saw a front brake cable that had a switch embedded into it, for just such occasions. I was searching for similar alternatives for my Yamaha DS7.
I did a quick search, but had no luck. I'll keep looking and keep ya posted ;)

Oops my bad. Forgot the cm400e has the front drum and cable drive. My "t" version had the hydraulic disc. Sorry again.

These replacement perches have the hole for the brake light switch.

And here is the switch.

Awesome thank you so much

Still on the search for a different option of a brake perch. But should be registering the bike this week. Can't wait for it to be ready.

Found the original part on a vintage honda Facebook group. Will be going stock until i make a decision on aftermarket options later in the season.

I got my replacement side covers and the front fender today. Will be ordering the mufflers tomorrow. Hopefully can sell my xbox one and games to register it this week. Since my hours got cut at work and now onky getting 20 hrs in.

Ended up going with the emgo shortys for now just because of money being so tight. But will get a different set in a few months. Looking forward to be back on the road in a few weeks. Once we get nicer days of course, it's supposed to snow this weekend. Hopefully it will be over haha. Thanks again everyone.

Sorry, I had no luck finding that cable. Kinda pissin me off too :p
Glad to hear it's coming together though ;)

You know i found one the other day when i was surfing on the phone. Meant to post it, had to restart phone and lost it I'll try again though.

So ran into a small snag, need to find the front brake lever because the kill switch I got doesn't have it and I don't have the original. The mufflers came in so now i need to figure out how I am going to install it. Don't know if I'll just clamp it or find someone to weld it. Found out I have a baby coming so now moneys even tighter. Just hoping I can ride soon. Thanks again everyone pics will be updated when I finish.
