its_nuche 73 CB836 build log

Back in May of 2014 I scooped up my first bike, a 1973 CB750. After calling the owner and asking a few questions it just sounded perfect for what i was looking to do. The bike had a Lien on the title, so after requesting some documents from the owner and a two month wait i received a clean title under my name from the DMV. The motor had an 836 kit installed back in the 90's along with a kenny harmon d grind cam, manley steel valves and a few other aftermarket items. Since I received the title, i have de-lined the tank, pulled the carbs for a much needed cleaning as you can see in the photos and have prepped them for powder coating. My goal: A redesigned hand built cafe racer style moto. Projected plans are a modified tank, heavily lowered suspension front and rear, custom made pan and cowl, and quality finishes from the frame to motor to the seat. Now to some photos:

Little update, tried out this knee dent thing, after i lower my butt with a new seat pan I will really see how my positioning will be, if the dents are not enough i will notch them out. Also had trouble disassembling the carburetor linkage plate, as it will be powdered as well, and tips appreciated on how to slide the pin out. :-\

Loving the black and white action shot haha 8)

The knee dents are pretty cool, how did you get to that point with them?

thanks man, it was fairly easy took a few measurements, made a template, a rubber mallet, heat gun, and a 32oz ball pein hammer is all I used.

Got the carburetor plate disassembled after figuring out how it worked, lets just hope i can put it back together . As of now only the carburetors will be getting a final restoration, (needed cleaning in order to get the bike running) as i had them apart i figured let me just finish them how i want now so i dont have to splt them apart again, as for the bike itself I will be doing all the modifications to my liking then tear her down for paint, powder, and polishing.

cool.........

nice work on the carb bits and tank remodel

thanks man can't wait to get the carbs back together to see how it all looks with the polished parts

So i haven't posted in a while because there hasn't been much progress, but i managed to finish up the carbs, put together a little work bench, bought a new battery, combo rect/reg, and bunch of other small things. Hooked up the battery to see if the bike had power but nothing, checked the fuse panel and the holders were corroded and broke off when i touched them, a new one is on the way which will hopefully solve the problem, in the mean time here are a few more photos
