I usually use a motocross bike tensioner wheel. They are located in the same place as yours on the stock mx bikes but they come with a couple bearings already installed. This will last alllooottt longer and be much qiieter than your current set up. They are available in many diameters depending on year and model, and for only about $20... Can't go wrong.

:-\

Hey G-Style, I like your moto-x idea!

Can you give me some year/make/model ideas about bikes that have such a tensioner? I took a quick look around and can't seem to find any!

Thanks!!

Thanks for your other ideas guys! ;D

As far as rotating the axle adjustment the other way, we tried that but there's still the probability that the chain will slap the brace :'( and I don't want to see that happen!

Downsizing the rear wheel sprocket is a possibility, but I can't do the same with the countershaft sprocket as it's a special order item because of the need for a 5/8" offset. That won't work. :(

I think the tensioner idea is the way to go! Now to find the ideal tensioner! :D :D

Drew, what about this?

I think it's very similar to the motocross type.

Re: KZZXR

Hey, thanks Ryan! It looks pretty good. I like the idea of a $20 moto-x solution though!! ;) ;D

We'll keep this one in mind!

Thanks,

Drew

Re: KZZXR

Hey, we found a moto-x tensioner in a parts bin at the shop! :D It's spinning on a bearing and it's even red (nearly matches my paint job)! This one looks like a skate board wheel. I'd prefer a 'toothed' wheel, but this will do until we can find such an animal.

Whoo hoo baby! We're almost ready to spin this thing up on the dyno! ;D ;D

Stay tuned for more photos and maybe a short dyno video! ;D ;D

Re: KZZXR

That is one fine looking machine! The taillight that you used, is that a mini cateye in black housing? If so, where'd you get it?

Thanks Dutchie! ;)

It's the mini cat eye on a plated bracket.

I think I got it from American Classix in Calif. They are Kawi specialists. ;D

Ryan! You da man! ;)

I think we have something almost exactly like this on the bike now! We found it in a parts bin at the shop! I'll keep this for future reference though!

Thanks! ;D

It looks like we'll run this thing next week and, barring any unforseen issues, I'll roll it home next Friday! Whoo hoo!

I'll post final photos and maybe a short video ASAP.

Drew

So, there ya go!

Not the best pics... sorry. I'll get some better shots soon and get them up ASAP.

She runs GREAT! I have to raise the gearing some and there are some carb issues to resolve, but other than that... it's more fun than I could've imagined!

I should be out at the Spring Meet and Greet in Mississauga on May 10th! See ya there!

Re: KZZXR

Very nice Drew, very nice indeed.

I kinda dig how you "hid" the passenger pegs... slick.

I think I almost have mine sorted... just one cylinder is being stupid and refusing to light (it does have fire though...)

Sounds great Ryan! Can't wait to go ridin' with ya!

Are you goin' to be mobile for Sat. and the Spring Fling Near Sq. One?

Re: KZZXR

Beautiful Drewski, great job. Looks like it would be a blast to ride.

If you post any more pics can you get some from the front so we can see the headlights and the tank indents?

Re: KZZXR

Better yet, I'll give you my address and you can just leave it in my driveway. I'll take some real good photos and make sure to post them for everyone else, I promise!!!

Beautiful job man!!!!

Re: KZZXR

Thanks guys!

I didn't do all the work. My role concerning this project was to find the bits and pieces and then to help in puting it together! John and Ryan at Rider's Choice and George at Kreater had a big hand in the finished machine!

It was actually quite an emotional experience from start to finish. The first ride was very special!

Re: KZZXR

Looking great Drewski! 8)

Wish I could see her in person as well this weekend, but I've got a Mother's Day BBQ to get ready for.

Hope to see you later in the season.
