CB750 Tracker First Build

Hell everybody,

I picked up this bike about a month ago (clean title only 13k miles) and have just had time to start digging in to it. I plan on going for a tracker style look once its all said and done. Started this thread to document my own progress and get as much help as possible from you guys. This will probably be a slow build for me but I look forward to the experience.

The day I picked her up.

Great start. Being that organized isn't a bad thing. I wish I was more organized but like to get in a hurry. ::)

I was thinking about picking one up. I may just have to pull the trigger on it. Roughly how long does the carb have to run in the ultrasonic and carb cleaner??? Thinking about picking up this small one tomorrow.

Also anybody have experience polishing the top caps and bowl?? (what polish and polishing mediums to use)

I did the bigger one. The little one is too small, a carb at a time takes forever. I used vinegar and water and only took a few 8 minute cycles. Here's a before and after.

And I polished my top caps. I used a green conditioning pad to even them up. Then some white rouge and a bench polisher. It goes pretty fast.

subscribed...i have a '80 cb750 i wana do a cafe/tracker style as well...that and my carbs need alot of love :/

Water and vinegar is a good cheap mixture. I already have a gallon of carb cleaner, can i use that in an ultrasonic without any harm to anything?

Save the carb cleaner for tough stuff. Use water /vinegar or pinesol for really greasy things. Carb cleaner is nice but a pain in the ass to dispose of.

Nice DOHC! I like that tail on the stock K model.

You mean a gallon like Berrymans Carb Dip? Nah, I wouldn't use that in your ultra-soninc. You can use it to dip them over night, spray them off with aerosol carb cleaner... putting the tiny red straw into every passage. Then a final blow-off with compressed air. I like the rubber tip on my blow gun because you can seat it agians the passage an make sure it's clear.

I just found out that there is a Harbor Freight much closer to my house than I thought!! So needless to say I will be going tomorrow and getting my ultrasonic cleaner.

Anybody ever heard of soaking them in water / baking powder after the water / vinegar bath to neutralize the vinegar?

I just ran them with plain water a couple of times after rinsing to be sure all the vinegar was worked out. If they are super greasy use 50/50 pinesol and water

Exactly what I used to tear my carbs apart haha. Little upset i got the book that came with the Randakks kit and never even opened it up . . . .

Well here goes nothing.

Sorry for the lack of posting, been to busy out riding my other bike ;) the cleaner work great. I have my individual carbs assembled and will be building the bank back up later this week.

I will get some shots of the competed carb build here soon

Did you still have to scrub down the carbs or did the ultrasonic cleaner get everything off? Seems like a pretty good labor saver if it works.
