Troy, you continually friggin' inspire me brother. You are like my biker muse. I have done some ingraving in the past, and I think some of that goodness will make on the 750. Tastefully done of course. I can't believe it hasn't occurred to me before. I wish I was at home so I could start right now.
Thanks Cresent, I'm glad you like that stuff. I'd love to have that kind of talent. If someone wanted to get into it I'd have to think there would be a market. I'd love to have those risers on my bike. Simply elegant!!!
I'v been working on the design since you posted this. I'll be picking up the dremel bits in the AM, and should be making shavings by afternoon. I haven't worked in brass, and I have only worked with a dremel, but I'd be happy to see what I could do for you (after a little practice of course). I have engraved acrylics, wood, and aluminum in pipe making before. The skill set should translate pretty well.
You really don't know how jazzed I am about doing this. I'll update my build in a day or two with some early results.
That is so sweet that this will translate to something on your bike. What ever you do it is going to be killer. I'd love to take you up on the offer but I don't see me buying brass risers anytime soon. Those suckers are pretty expensive and my bank is pretty drained right now. Actually I had to turn Swagger down as well. He made the offer too. Man, I love you guys!

I'm thinking engraved dash, covers, etc... might do custom clutch/brake handles and matching rearsets when I get to that point. If you've got a bit you want done I'd mak the time for you. Weren't you thinking about a switch panel... I would love to have a bit of my work on your ride!
I really like that stipple pattern he uses, I've done stuff like that on wood but not on metal before. I'll be chewing something up with the ol' dremel just o see if I cna make something pretty. What I want to know how to do is 'Cowboy' gun engraving, you know.....the leafy, lacey looking stuff that implies tooled leather....but in nice shiny metal. Yeah baby!
I hear ya on the style of most of his pieces. Not my thing either, but talent's talent. He has a short school for engraving, thats why I posted it. Seems like a great way to learn from someone whos been there and done that... Those pistols are amazing. Years ago my uncle was given an antique over under shotgun by a coworker that had the most beautiful engraving done on every piece of metal. Had a seen of ducks flying down one side, and deer on the other. Not my favorite subjects, but the work was fantastic...
Man, I haven't even taken the time to clean the grime off my engine cases yet!! I can't imagine having some "engraving" to keep clean!! Do you think they'd still look cool with gunk stuck in the grooves??

Cresent, I'd be honored to have your work displayed on the bike. I was planning on hiding the key but if it were mounted to a plate with fancy work on it I'd want it out for all to see. I think something under the seat rail would look sweet. Once I get to that point I may hit you or Swagger up... I won't be there until spring so we have some time. Thank you very much brother that's so awesome! I'll defently let you know what I decide.
Troy I think you need to keep to tending to your animals, and keep that bar of ideas at a manageable level for the rest of us. I already have enough of my plate without you adding some new skill that I want to learn.

That's too funny Jay I hear ya. Problem is you can only do so much with an animal. Guess I could brand them all, hahahah. Or maybe get rid of the reins and add handlebars. Just kidding. I really need to get on the ball and try this myself. I don't think I would have the skill though.
