DRILLED VALVE CAPS [ SPRING CAPS ]

HELP ....... I saw a posting on here [?] recently where the builder had drilled small holes in the face of the spring caps for lightness.

In the good old days for lightening the caps we notched the outer edge every 5 degrees or so with a grinder for the same effect.

Never too old to learn [ or pinch ideas ! ]. This seems an obvious solution 50 odd years later. However, it's doubtful in my day if ye olde hand held Wolf / Black and Decker would have coped.

If anyone knows who the builderis - or can link me to the pix I'd be grateful

Back in the day we used Alloy valve spring caps. Now we use Titanium caps. No need to lighten heavy steel caps when parts are readily available or adaptable.

Yea me too on the alloy caps - I was just assuming great difficulty in getting something for the KZ twin !

Then there's also the Hot Rodder / penny pinching thing !! ;)
