I'd be interested to see how you get on. I see they also sell stainless fixings.

Quote from Bojer:-

It is quite an upright riding position with the standard bars , I think you would have a lot of work to do with wiring/control cables etc if you wanted higher bars .

Reply to Bojer:-

When I said I wanted Ape bars, I actually meant Ace bars :-[
I would look a complete tool on a cafe style bike with ape hangers :)

PS How do I quote part of a previous post and not the whole post?

When reply window opens, delete whatever you don't need.
Don't delete the square brackets or anything contained therein.

Easy peasy!

Thanks, I was deleting everything but the actual sentance. This thread of yours has really become great source of information for everything Ace related.

Thank you. Can you set the bars at any angle you want or do they naturally fall in one position. I dont want to be leaning too far forward as I have dodgy arm and shoulders.

You can adjust them to your preference, I didn't have any clearance issues. I did however move the indicator lights to the lower bracket, to open up the front end because it looked to packed up.

What is the exact reference or model of the ace bar you installed ?

It looks like we have the exact same rear shocks ;)

Frankly I have no idea, I bought them off my teacher, and he got them from a friend of his.

Well they are a lot better then the stock rear shocks ;)

Before we go any further, let me introduce myself.

I'm from Antwerp, Belgium. I've had my ace since mid august and got 1800km on her to date.
I use my Ace mainly for getting around town and for the occasional blast in the Port of Antwerp.
I'm studying to become a car mechanic, and the Ace has thought me more then I expected.

The mods I made so far include (from front to back):

- Front fender spray painted satin black
- Removed the front fork sheath
- Black electrical tape around the headlight
- Front indicators moved to the lower bracket
- Black tape around the speedometer, to hide the poor quality
- Ace bars
- Horn from an old Ford Transit (and it makes a gloriously loud noise ;D )
- Unicorn sticker from Musketon https://www.facebook.com/musketon?fref=ts
- Fuel filter
- The band-aid is to mask the first scar on the Ace
- Drilled some holes in the chain cover
- PEX performance air filter from ooracing
- Racing CDI from ooracing
- Disconnected the sensor at the stand
- Custom rear fender hidden between the frame
- Home made seat (multiplex board, yoga mat, tec-7, old leather jacket, and sound insulating foam)
- Leather strip over the rubber tank band
- Rear shocks
- Custom tail light + licence plate holder, modeled after the skeleton of an airplane wing and finished in high gloss black

Still to come:

- Carb rejet with force filter from ooracing. I bought the 303 tune up kit, but I can't use the new jets in combination with the PEX filter, however the force filter will work according to ooracing.
- New exhaust pipe without CAT, my teacher will sort me out with some pipe and I'll bend it and weld it myself :)
- I'm considering the straight end silencer from ooracing.
- Pirelli city demon tires have been ordered, but haven't arrived yet.
- S/S braided front brake hose and upgraded brake pads.

So that's about it for me. :)

my ace is in the shop...getting new pipe...4 days till it returns.
now had first oil change... around 180kms on the clock and just getting better all the time..
blanked off emissions gear today. no huge change in how it goes..hoping exhaust work makes some improvement. rear guard removed and core flute filler fitted under seat.. lighter and looks more of a race bike.. gets a lot of looks and people asking me what that old bike is..
back to work mode for 4 days .. then back on the ace
