It might work, but it also might not. They're kind of hit and miss with the early Honda twins (pre-1978). I know a couple of guys who got one to work on their 360s, but it wouldn't work on mine.
For the best success, the first step is to find setup with a switch that will kill power to the bike, except for the ignition coils. Always start the bike with all of the lights off.
If that doesn't work, a new stator from Rick's will help (but still may not seal the deal).
If you've replaced the stator and the regulator/rectifier, and added the switch, it just wasn't meant to be.
A small battery (LiFePO4) will be your best bet and would be my preference over a BE for any of the Hondas.
