Not that I've ever done it, but you might be able to cut an inch or two from the springs inside the forks. You're going to reduce the travel of the suspension though.
The spring rate is also severly reduced, and thus may be well matched to the front forks' dampning characteristics. Is there a different available top tree?
Resurrecting this thread back from the dead... I've been searching around for this answer as well and didn't want to start a new thread unless I had to.
Did you ever figure out how to lower the front suspension on a CL175??
