Re: 1970 Greeves Griffon

Finally got the tig set working that my mate gave me, it's been about 25 yrs since I did any tig so I am struggling  I will wait until I get better at it to do the pipe. I was considering getting the oxy/acetylene out and welding it but I'm going to persevere with the tig (could take a while) ;D

My first post:

WOW. That is so nice. I always dreamed of Greeves (and Maico, and Husqavarna)

Can't wait to see it finished.

I wish my paint looked like that, wow is that nice….I had a guy do it years ago and it was the color we went with, dull gloss blue of some sort, no metal flake.

johnu did you use your original pipe for a pattern?

Yes and no! I was going to just take templates off of the original but I decided I wanted to change how the header pipe flows into the first cone as the original has an awkward transition there. So I ended up measuring the original pipe then using those specs but breaking the cones down in to smaller pieces so that I can route the pipe a little differently to allow a better transition for the header. Hope that makes sense!

Re: 1970 Greeves Griffon

Finally got a little time to work on the bike and finished the pipe, although I still need to find a suitable silencer for it.

All oxy-acetylene welded, still haven't got the tig cracked yet!
