You'll probably get pissed off with tach in that position pretty quick. Beemer is great bike to work on. there were plenty of 'Endurance racers' around back then (although mainly 750 & 1000) so all the 'work' on what needs doing to 'CAFE' it has been done
Why is that? It doesn't hit my knee, wont be turning to lock while riding really. Not super concerned with being able to see it while riding as I can feel/hear engine rpm anyway.

All that work on the Honda and everyone loves the BMW.

Well, I have two BMW motorcycles. I also have a 360, sooooo. ;)
After mocking up the subframe of the BMW I might like it too. Hahaha. Too bad it's being built for a friend

Everything seems to be taking an hour longer than it should on this thing. Not much progress was made overall but got some things done this weekend

Headlight mounted, plate and tail lamp mounted, engine buttoned up with tensioner, tank mounted, ignition coils and master cylinder mounted, chain on... decided the gold chain was stupid got a regular one. still need to wire it and make a cable for the front brake.

You really want bike leaning about same angle but to right side. When oil level is correct you will have it 'leaking out' when stator cover is removed. I use centre stand with a 1" thick piece of wood under left side then pull it back off when I'm done

how could it lean the other way it would fall over?

there is no oil in the bike ATM - just buttoning up the wiring

Yep, without a center stand it falls down. Block under clutch cover or 'tie' it to a wall stud when your working on it with oil in engine

For williamng some pics of steering damper setup
Basically just searched "gsxr steering damper" on Ebay, tons of them for under 25$

.................because it look 'racy' ;)
We know 360 doesn't need it, I think they handle pretty good for what they are. Never had any headshake even on my 391 with MX bars at 110~120 (but, you can feel the front end gets 'light'' with higher bars, even laying on the tank) With clip-on bars front end doesn't get light but you do know your riding a light bike (plus, mine is way lighter than stock)

Why do you want that dampener?
Bike is much lighter than stock, and where I ride at home it gets "upset" a lot I've never had a speed wobble on this bike but I've been in a headslapper before and it's not fun, not something I want to experience again.

I found absolutely zero reasons to not have one.
It's a very cheap and easy way to reduce that possibility. And as pj said, it does look cool.

And oh yes the bike does handle great, it's so incredibly predictable that even when it was upset it just was like being on skis or something just easy to point it where it should go and smooth things out. My hope is with the better suspension and stiffer rear frame, longer swingarm and more power it will be even better

It's a 'tankslapper', headslapper is something completely different ;)
I swear I wrote tankslapper. Obviously I have not had enough whiskey this morning... be right back
