$500 budget CB400T

Been Around the Block
Last year I built my girl her first bike, a CB125, she loves it and is riding well, now she is at the point she can handle something a little bigger. My buddy had bought a CB400T non runner for $100 bucks and decided it was to much work so he picked up a nice RD400 that I did some work on, so he ended up giving me the 400. going to try to stay under $500 on this one. after playing with it a little, found it had no spark, researching online found it was most likely the CDI, bought one from the CDI magician, ate up $90 of my budget but fired rite up.

15 minute and $15 bucks for a seat pan. was watching the show Trucks one day and saw then make a airdam out of a Snuggie, fleece, and thought that would be a hell of a lot easier then what ive been doing with fiber glass, so I tried it and loved it!

The fleece idea is pretty cool and the funny thing for me is my dad was telling me about the same episode last night saying I should try it for my tire hugger when I got to that point. Looks like it turned out nicely!

messing with forming the seat foam, hopefully get it finished and upholstered this weekend.

Ive built a few subwoofer boxes using the fleece and resin method, not sure how the strength compares to fiberglass mat though?

little more work over the weekend, weather was to nice, had to rip the Virago around.

Seat is coming along nicely! I too started with a budget but that didn't turn out well. :p

Good work so far. I think everyone starts out with a figure in mind, so far I've more than doubled mine and will probably double it again still.

have not posted for a long time, this one has been on the side line for a while. almost done, did my first lace job on the tank, her idea, but I like it. thx

You started with a serious dint in the left hand of the tank. Were you able to pull it out a bit, or was it easier for body filler to work its magic?
