That’s it. I’m selling everything I own, packing the missus and moving. Mozzies, come get a taste.

So today I picked up the parts from Phill who did a good job.

We ended up having a chat about the damaged fins and he gave me the number of a guy who can fix them up. Only catch is this will now delay me rebuilding the motor, but better to fix it now and wait a little longer than look at it every day for the rest of my days being reminded of my dickhead moment.

The other thing I did was purchase myself a mig welder. I had a hand me down from dad but my lack of skill coupled together with its lack of quality was making for some absolutely terrible welding.

I ended I getting an entry level mig a cigweld 135. The next thing a did was make up a rather dodgy stand for the motor.

The next thing item on the agenda was to try and clean up all the rubbish that was created last week when we installed air conditioning throughout the house.

I then took the opportunity to hang up a bit of a shadow board to try and organise my bench tops and get all my nuts, bolt and other miscellaneous parts into some sort of order.

Yesterday I was at Oldman Murphy’s and he showed me where he had gotten up to on the second revision as some of the previous measurement for the fork holes were out. Maybe some time this week the top triple will be finished in time for me to give it a polish and fit it to the bike.

Unfortunately the hours have run out and it’s nearly time to put jnr down.

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll knock over the shed and manage to make some more progress

Unfortunately the guy I contacted for welding the fins never got back to me.

The motor is still in its various parts, I picked up a new seal kit and some gasket sealant.

Unfortunately I’m sitting at the airport waiting to go to work so the brakes are on.

Before I left I ended up relocating the regulator rectifier to the underside of the electrical tray.

I also removed the handlebar indicators and wiring in preparation of installing the purpose built moto switches.

The installation will involve drilling a small hole in the handle bar to accomodate the 4 wires that will be coming out then connecting it to the M button.

I’ve purchased some rubber grommets so that when I do it the edges of the holes don’t cut the wiring.

I’ve removed the rear disc and sent it to an absolute legend who offered their assistance to drill it out ( you know who you are )

I also found the right sprocket JTR 284 runs a 530 chain which matches the front sprocket the original sprocket for that hub is a 630. I’ll have to wait to see if I need spacers I’ll be ordering this along with the studs, nuts and a new chain. I think having a chain and rear sprocket will be a huge improvement over the air drive I’m currently running.

I polished up the side of the motor I think I will give the other covers a good polish then respray the other components. I’ll have plenty of time to mull it over at work.

Kind of feel like I’m going backward as when I left she’s up on the stand, hopefully the man flu doesn’t strike next break and I get some runs on the board.

Hopefully March will be the month Frankenhonda comes to life

I think I'm looking forward to seeing this beauty all buttoned up as you are. Remarkable patience and attention to detail, kudos my man.

Copy that I might try to contact them a week before I come home book it in so I can drop it off the day after I get back.

I really don’t want to delay for too much longer getting it back together I’ll have a hard enough time remembering where everything went as it is.

What Jimbonaut said, really looking forward to seeing this come together. And you have plenty of pics in this thread so should be able to get things back where they’re supposed to go :)

Thanks for your positive feedback, I hope it’s worth the wait for all involved.

Well I just ordered the sprocket so that’s one less thing I’ll need to get once I’m home. Should mean I’ll have everything required to get that back wheel on and leave it on.

Well Old Man Murphy has been hitting it in the shed.

After an issue with measurement resulting in a Mark II being made progress of the top triple is coming along

I’m not sure what we were quite up to in the other updates. So I’ll start from once the holes were all in the right places.

Using the original GSXR 750 top triple as the guide, the old man remeasured it then mulled it out.

There are a few tricky features on the underside of the triple, on of them being the hole which houses the triple stem.

This meant the billet needed to be milled down to the correct thickness so it needed to have the face cut down from 25mm to 22 mm at .1mm a cut (30 passes it’s a slow process on the manual mill)

After a 30 mins of work 1.3 mm following day the face was at 22mm

After a quick check against the original triple everything lined up

Roughing down 2 mm so he could machine out the 3 bosses around the main holes

Then the mill gods decided work would be postponed

Bugger. #shoplife I’m looking forward to seeing the final piece it’s going to be mean. The only thing I’m thinking now is if I should leave the housing of the speedo black? I hope it ties in with the polished triple.

So thanks to a member here who volunteered their assistance the rear disc no longer looks so out of place

From plan to execution, absolutely legendary effort (my shout when your in Melbourne)

I think once I get home and paint the inner black it will look the business

The sprocket also arrived in the mail a few days ago. So once I pick up the studs and nuts I should be ready to get the back wheel sorted.

Next will be getting new brake lines to suit.

So this next update is courtesy Old Man Murphy who has been busy in the shed working on the top triple

So from the top down first photo is preparing to cut the boss, with the next holding the triple clamp onto the rotary table.

next is the boss rough cut, then cutting the boss at the other end, he then used a plug to center the next boss over the rotary table ready to cut the third boss.

When you look at the plug close up you will see the two different diameters cut one was to fit into the clamp and the other to center on the rotary table, the triple is now starting to take shape.

I cant wait to see the final result, it's going to look mean

I may have to get a sign made up for his workshop.

I’m now starting to think I’ll have to polish the black off the bezel of the speedo to tie into the polished triple it’s going to look a little strange with the black on polished I think.

I’ll have to wait until it’s finished to see.
