Rear led light issue

hia all,

i am looking into replacing the rear light with a led version.. but this doens't seem to be working. If i connect the wires correctly, nothing lights up.. the leds are not faulty, they work with a battery connected.

I read something about an a/c or d/c issue.

Am i overlooking something, or do i need to change some wires for this to work?

Did your old light work? What is the new light? Is it made for 12v dc? Use a multimeter to check for 12v coming from the marker light wire, and the brake light should be powered when you pull the brake lever. Check ohms at the third wire. You should have little or no resistance coming from the ground/earth wire. Use jumpers to test from a good battery if all these conditions are met and the light still won't work. Might be a bad light.

What bike is it? Some old machines have 6v.

Solved!

Turned out, polarity was an issue.. Bulbs don't care for polarity. LED does.. After fidling with wires and connections, everything fired up as normal!

Light emitting diode. They are ALL about polarity. Good catch.
