My Honda SL100. Birth of the Taurus

But with a bit of work they can look great. Check out this SL70 build by Davmo at planet minis. He is a bloody talented bike builder. This is a 110cc 52mmx52mm

Aw crap... As with any moped/mini builder, never ask "why" but "why not?"

The idea of this build is to play the pity card, sorta. It's so ugly it's cute :p

Only thing going on here is sanding the frame bit by bit and we split the crankcase.

All of my budget really needs to go to the CL. It will be my main means of transportation and with riding season coming to a close I will need to focus on my mobile computer work. Winter is the hardest time of the year here because I actually have to work :p

A year later and all I've done is polish and rebuild this thing and install these things. Some paint too. The "scratches" are intentional and sealed over. Gotta love that "rust-red" primer.

I even purchased a dedicated hydraulic lift for this build!

I wanted it to be black but I ran out after 4 coats and had heaps of yellow cans so I finished with that. I had to fund the CL for my every day. Then instead I bought a PC and with a total of $1,400 had it fresh all-round including rego. Now I'm paying the attorney so this is the back of the back of back burners.

I thought the cl was a customer's bike.

Looks interesting with the yellow frame. What direction are you heading for the tank colour.

Yellow. Fuck it everything yellow! I have four cans of yellow! Haha. I had a shot at a chunky baja tank, but the original cleaned up well. Yellow with black scallops. Yeah I said scallops, was anybody expecting this to look decent? Haha. And yes, I'm running these tyres until I see some cracks. Digging some ruts should help that along.

Yeah that was going to be my next question. Still going to go dirt after you ruin them?

It's strictly dirt. Since others will be riding, including beginners, pitching it in the dirt will offer greater longevity over all. ;)

No performance upgrades for now. Maybe if I have money some day I'll strap a leaf-blower to it for an extra 1psi of boost!

I have a 150cc engine that will fit in that frame. All yours if you can pick it up. I don't want to post it because it still has a bike attached.

Excellent offer! I'll head out this Friday. I've been waiting for the opportunity to test the PC800...

Actually I am a bit further north than that. Just stick a sand tyre on the PC and seal up the faring, you should make it no problem.

Man I hate the guy who owns that pool. He has so so so many old hondas in pristine condition.

Funny you should say that. At first I wanted to paint up the PC all gay like an 80's jetski, right out of baywatch. It certainly looks like a boat on land.

Unfortunately, the reference would be diluted by the similar paint jobs of crotch rockets of that era.

So I've settled for matte aluminium and a sort of metallic umber. Some day.

I think that the colors add much weight and rigidness to the overall appearance. The original photo looks much smaller and...toyish.

Thanks to eyhonda I now have a carby which cleaned up very well with just a few minutes in the ultrasonic. Very usable, but I could have sworn the main jet was included. Good thing I have a few laying around.

Thanks eyhonda 8)

I can't believe I'm getting anything done, considering the full garage ???

Took time to blast my parts while working on somebody else's, just while the media was loaded. Afterward filled tank and got a small saturated part. Nothing some Redkote won't heal ::)

I know about the complaints with Redkote, and I've had to peel somebody else's mistake out of their tank like steamed latex paint. The thing is, every time I've had to do so, there was horrid rust underneath. It's all about the prep.

Many more pieces to blast and paint. Can't prime the tank until it stops urinating on all of my ambitions.

Also, monkey time.
