80's cb1100f

that there nikel town customs bike has "stance" written all over it which makes it pretty much useless :-\

All I see with that DCC bike is a drag queen.
But personally they are just a bunch of hacks in my eyes.

I'm not one to say everything needs to stay stock.
100% down for making improvements to a bike.
But I see a huge difference between making functional improvements to hoe the bike works, and a simple game of dress up followed by glamor shots.

even though i have the slower blue one its a wonderful period bike

the biggest mod i have done to mine is a agm battery its all stock except for procomm igniters

nology profire coils and the relay mod to power the coils

Blue is WAY faster!

Mine is also stock.
Debating on the F2 wheel swap as my forks are pitted.
Also might do some 33mm smoothbores and a nice pipe

After careful consideration of what color is truly fastest I think I will go with70's "poo" brown and gold.it looks great in a parking lot and I believe the metallic paint keeps the carbs clean.

good suggestions as to what to do?

get it running right and safe

ride it

ride it some more

figure out what you really want to do if anything

Why swap the suspension?
Have you discovered that it is the weak link and holding you back?
Or are you just looking to mod junk and make work for the sake of work?

Funny you should say that, I used to have a cb450. It was extra fast. Passed my friend on a 1098s once.

no swap, tune it set it up right
keep it as a twin shocker with the availability of precision shocks these days single shocking a vintage bike is just fucking stupid

Mods should be done to improve the performance of the bike.
I have not felt that the physical forks are what is holding me back from going faster so no real reason to swap.
And DEFF not to some inverted GSCBRXASSKSLSN type thing.

surffly i have that exact same cb450 great bike!!

i also have a cl450 i love but its sapphire blue so much faster !!!

I have always wanted a CL450.
Personally it is my favorite Honda twin.

My 450 was a great mix. small enough that it was fun around town, but big enough that it was a "real" motorcycle

the thing that amazes me about the bike with no fairing is that looks like a oil cooler on the front

i cant imagine putting a oil cooler on the moving steering part of the bike and then trying to keep it from breaking

or having leaks

Pretty sure it's solid mounted to the steering head (neck).

Which on a street bike would be ridiculous and have no clearance for low speed steering, but steering on a race bike would never approach the stock stops on the track so I guess that makes sense. Probably would make it a pig to move around off track

most all were fork mounted,to the bottom tree
with careful routing of the lines the flexing was minimized
