CB550 exhaust studs broke off

Hi guys,

After using a lot of WD40, I removed the exhaust from my engine.

3 studs broke off.

My question, what's best, just drill them out?

Example:

+ right in front of 1 stud, is the frame ... so can't drill with the engine mounted ... any tips here or will I be obliged to take the whoel engine out ... which I prefer not?

if you have acces to a welder
first stuff something in the ports keep out any stray molten metal
what you would do is jame a nut over the bit that is left and weld it hot do a good weld on it so the nut is as well attached as possible
let it cool take a propane torch and heat the aluminum again a bit around the stuck stud
it should wrench out, squirting in some penetrant should help once it has broke free
failing that drilling is the next option or some heat smack on the end of the stud and grab with vise grips
any way you go about it heat is gonna be the key
if drilling get it on center with an 3/32 or so pilot hole then try a 7/32" left handed bit
