What did you build this week?

Not quite done yet, still have a bit of finish welding to do but this is what I built this week:

New table and fixtures for my robotic welding setup in the metal shop. This should increase output considerably as well as expand to a new size product.

3.5" steel plate with 260 3/4" bores and 260 1/2" bores.

I had to retire to an area with greater privacy after seeing those tables. Dead sexy!

An herb spiral! I work for a landscape designer:-D

I made this combination bracket that is also a manifold. Can't really say what it's used for, but for the first prototype I am fairly pleased. We will try this one out in the field and then I'll make adjustments to the drawings as necesary. There are a few things that I already plan on changing, but that's why prototypes happen. On the final runs I'll use new tools that are less warn and run a spring pass to remedy the finish quality.

Looks like some kind of Venturi. Cool.

I made some wooden sinks for a new hotel this week.
White oak.

Then this afternoon I got a wild hair and made a new fire pit from some 3/16 stainless I had sitting around.

I made a hillbilly soda blaster from a beer making kit and a plastic cup, not exactly Macgyver but it seems to work and for £4 and £2 of ‘soda’ it’s worth a go

Since I posted the beginning stages, here is the finally finished prototype. Not bad for a cheap Chinese lathe and a drill press

Love the sink. Epoxy to seal it?

That fire pit would look great in my backyard ;)

After the Macguyver soda blasting gun, though I’d better make a similarly rednek shot blast cabinet.
2 Amazon boxes and one old shed plastic window Payne later...

Rebuilt the LCA's on the Stepside most of yesterday.

As you can tell, they were in bad shape...

I hate doing bushings in these situations because it always ends up being a fight, either getting the old ones out, the new ones in, or both. And this one was no exception. It fought me tooth and nail the entire time. But, the resulting ride improvement was worth the aggravation.

Then, yesterday evening, I rebuilt the harness connectors on the RD400 (with help of Sonreir and vintageconnections.com).

The 3 pin connector on the engine harness was cut off by the PO, so that was the necessary repair. But the three remaining connectors were kinda brittle from age, so they got replaced as well. These are exact replacements for the OEM connectors and perform great. I actually ordered two sets and will be replacing the aged/brittle connectors on the DS7 as well.
Now I'm just waitin on the carbs and an engine install to give her a test fire.

Lucky you. One of these days, I'm going to quit dumping money into motorcycles and rebuild my suspension front to back. I'm doing it one piece at a time, but it all needs done.

I'm tackling it one section at a time. The alignment doesn't seem to be noticeably affected after rebuilding the lowers, so I'm gonna give it a couple of weeks and do the tie rods, then have it aligned. The uppers seem solid so I'm gonna try and wait a few months to rebuild those. The rear bushings will definitely wait a few months, as I plan on adding a swaybar back there at the same time.

Wrapped up this nice little table a few weeks ago. Steel tube frame and birch shelves.
