2014 winter mods to my bob

I like where you are going with it.. can't wait to see the fairing completed to get the full picture...

well spent some time with my buddy the machinist, some calipers and got a plate all mocked up. going to turn this out on the mill if it works, will trans to CAD and CNC this out so we can flip them for dual rotors as well so +06 and up can run this

well during nap time for my new born and 18mo old i snuck out into the garage to do some work. Got the bags trimmed to accept the mounts that we welded up... I do have to tweek the right bag a bit. as i think it hangs just a touch to much in. from here all i have to do on the bags is weld in the large support plate to the mount support, drill and mount the hinges, and install the latch system. With any luck these will be on the way to paint by Friday. Dave get ready!!! they are coming to you in sunny key west!

(4 total bolts support this top support but i just have 2 in for mock up)

also since I relocated my floorboards 2" back my heel shifter no longer worked. So i cut it in 1/2 and added 1" into it... came out great, just needs some powder

here is a shot of the mock up before i finished smoothing it out

Deviant fabrication really knocked it out of the park with their chin spoiler. Best part is, i can tuck my compressor behind it!!! ya buddy! air ride completely hidden, just have to weld up some brackets and i am all set! very stoked for this. here are some pics on the bike

mothers day nap time = me racing out to the garage to try and get something done! now that i have the nose cone time to make the compressor mount to attach that sucker. Here is what i came up with. also left a tab on the mount to use to mount the bottom of the nose cone as well

finally! took me forever to figure out what the hell i was going to do with the guage for the air ride... took a touring lower deflector and a dyna shock tower cover... cut cut cut weld weld weld... boom!

left a little tab to put the 3 way switch to raise it up and down... also around 1 am i was finally able to get some powder work done... was too tired to snap pics of the coated parts... can finally start to do some assembly now!

That is what "custom" is all about!! Dont ya love when you make somethin like that and it comes out perfect?? ;D

Keep up the good work.

holiday weekend proved to be pretty nice to get some stuff done... but of course my friends and family found out i was in my garage wrenching and everyone and their brother came by to get stuff done on their own bikes... i rebuilt a SV650 front end, replaced the neck bearings in a sporty 1200, new shocks and speakers on a bagger, and swapped wheels and calipers on a C3 vet... yet when their bikes/cars where all done and i needed a hand on tearing down my front end everyone suddenly had places they "had to be" pretty shitty... never the less i plowed on...

*sorry the bike is so dirty i left the cover off for the week and it got dusty as shit*

got the floorboards on and positioned 2" back.. here is a shot of the board with the welded up heel guards

also drilled and lined up the flush mount pop up latch that will lock the lid down on the bags... funny how an hour of making sure it is in the right spot and then about 20 seconds to drill to put it there hahaha

and last... got the compressor bolted in, the mount powder coated... and did a test run of the final placement/fitment for the cone before I ship this and the bags to Davo Customs for some paint to be laid on them. I could not be happier with the Dev Fab nose cone. the lower mount i made works awesome! The upper mounts i had clamps with welded nuts to them but to be honest i think i may just use 2 metal zip ties i powder. This is non load bearing and i think i should keep it simple and not over think it

not much to update... replaced the plug on my TB, as the old one was cracked, also sent my custom cut derby cover out to be pin striped and the air cleaner cover... Parts are on the way to the painter for the fiberglass work, soon as i get the bushing in for the fork lower i can assemble those, put on the caliper and bleed that out, and good to ride

So fricking close! was going to finish her up Sunday however i got roped into putting a new AC compressor in my wifes car instead...

Front forks are rebuilt with race tech emulators, running dual top out springs, progressive springs, 5 turns on the emulators, 130mm 15w fork oil.

new fork boots, new black coated rotor bolts, caliper remount bracket done so caliper has full sweep contact, just have to machine some spacers and coat them... few bolts, intake backing plate gasket, and about 2 hours of work and she is back on the road! Then i can work on the fairing durring rainy days!

in case anyone needs it
10527771_10152325321268073_7203743735809573267_n.jpg

i do not like how blocky it is, does not flow well with the front end, so going to give her some curves to help it flow with the bike rather than looking like a bolt on
10378915_10152325321338073_6786712029777225549_n.jpg

(used black rattle can on the bracket to see if i wanted it black or blue powder)
scored the cuts i will make in the mount to give it some shape and curves... it is Alum so i do not want to take off too much, still want the support of the mount but just a bit more on looks.
