Sketchy turbo hardtail XS

Been Around the Block
Well I've had this strange thought in my head fora while now. I've been looking at this seat hanging in my garage the last few years and been trying to figure out what to build under it. I found an XS650 from a coworker in total shit shape for $300. So I'm going to attempt to run a BW K03 turbo off a VW 1.8t. We'll see how it goes. I'm thinking blow through with single carb. Maybe VM 36-38? to keep the cost down. I really have no good reason for doing this other than to do something different. So after a year of letting this thing rot on my sideyard, I decided to order a TC bros hardtail kit to get the ball rolling.
Stay tuned for more goose poop welds and general fuckery

Carefully stacked shit together just to see what it might start to look like. Im not sure if I love the tank

Actually the compressor map seems pretty close, RPM has a larger effect than displacement.
It might not be the most ideal, but its also an extremely affordable option. And easy to come by.

GT15 was my original thought, but its about double the cost.

Got a few things welded up. Need spring mounts for the seat. I dont know if I like the tank or not. Playing with mounting location or ditching the whole thing. thoughts?

Got the turbo. Wound up going with the GT15. Its soo tiny. Now shits gonna get weird.

Loving this thing! Not sold on the tank myself, but everything else has the makings of a real rad scoot

Yeah Im still not sure if I dig the tank or not. I had it laying around. We'll see if it sticks around
Ordered some exhaust bits yesterday. Finally finally sold this old CB750 I wound up with on trade.
Gonna start building exhaust. Thank goodness for pipe wrap, because its going to be really ugly.

Im starting to think bout running dual VM34s. I think dual carbs on the head will be key in keeping the package compact
I know I'll need pressure rated seats for the carbs for a blow through setup. Anybody know where I might find them ?

Ordered some VM34s today. Now I need to source some 1.5 needle/seats to handle the bowl pressure, if anybody knows of a good place to order

Here's some shameless picture whoring of my roommates Deathwing hiding in the background. Think DTTers would appreciate

Well actually got seat mounts. Havent actually welded them on yet.
Decided to go with VM34s. Better performance and less clutter keeping dual carbs on the head I think.
Need to find pressure rated needle and seats at some point still
Got the TC bros exhaust kit. Comes with some nice right radius pieces. Now I'm going to cut it all up and see if I can make it work.
Found a cheap sporty tank. I think Final mounting will bring the front down about another 1.5" its currently sitting on the old mounts.
Smaller tank leaves much more room to tuck turbo close to bike

Progress will probably be pretty slow for a while
I stumbled upon a Toyota pickup that had a rod knock, snatched it for $200. Spent $50 and rolled a set of bearings in it, gave it a tune up, runs like a champ.

I used to do this with them, a long time ago, and have been wanting to build another one.

Nice truck. I always loved those old Toyotas. I'd love to import an old diesel Hilux one day...

I like the tank high, gives it an aggressive look... but maybe lower would look better. ???

I think I like the thank location. I know the seat springs are "backwards" in the photo, but they seem to perform much better this way....
