FENDER QUESTION

Does anybody know what the rear fender of a dirt bike is made of? Is it polyethylene or polypropylene plastic? It's a 1984 kl 650. Asking because I was thinking of using epoxy to repair it.

Don't try using epoxy - though there are epoxy-like materials intended for this. Use a plastic welder: http://www.harborfreight.com/plastic-welding-kit-with-adjustable-temperature-96464.html or http://www.harborfreight.com/80-watt-iron-plastic-welding-kit-60662.html.
Your fender very likely (but not necessarily) will say what it is made of somewhere on it. Look for small cast in text like PEVA (Poly (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate)) etc. You can easily look up what the acronym means on the internet to determine what to use as filler rod. It is much better to weld it first and then use the appropriate plastic filler to restore the aesthetic. Body shops do this all the time on plastic bumpers so you may find some guidance there.

Pretty sure they're made from thermoset polyester. The only way to fix them is with a plastic weld kit. There's a company called Polyvance that sells repair kits, plus maybe some others.

There are over 50 different types of plastic used in automotive, and at least 10 different ones for bumper covers. Depends on brand and which part of the bumper. No one solution there.

do a youtube search for "plastifix" this stuff is awesome and in my experence even better than plastic welding... however welding is a strong second.
