Cb750

You can multiply your inches by 25.4 and have your mm. Easier than googling it.

mm to inches is x .03937
Same reverse I just get lazy and use google sometimes
I work in a machine shop I have to convert whole prints sometimes with like 40 details it's exhausting

I'll be inputting my numbers into master cam at work so I can get a visualization of how my lines change on the bike

So far it looks not too dramatic of a change
Because of the different offsets and fork lengths
106/4.21 trail is not a bad number
Wheelbase will be slightly longer slightly
But have done exact but it looks as though stem lengths on triples are same if not really close

The more little things I do keep making seem all the more a good idea for build
It's not looking impossible at all
And quietly badass
I've found a few pics of other bikes online
Cb's with single sided swing
All have gsxr forks but that's just because of the simplicity and amount of aftermarket stuff too do it to almost any bike
I'm trying to stay manufacturer specific
Honda baby all the way

Couple shots of the shop
I'm going on my second year as apprentice I can run all the machines
Not programming just yet but the more I learn I'll be making more of my own stuff for my builds
We do a lot of stuff just not really anything for automotive industry or racing stuff
Mostly gov space shuttle , submarine
Medical
Laser and lenses mounting
High end shit

Learn g code. Good feeds and speeds calculator comes in handy as well. I usually just program at the machine. That Mazak in the back, Mazatrol is easy to learn on. Haas is easy. Shame they make shit machines.

Yeah
I'm mostly just manual mill and turning
The mazak leaks way oil constantly
But we put them all through hell
Running inconel 625 and ph377 stainless
A2 ugh tough metal

That's how I'm learning feeds and speeds
Lot squaring up
Tool making one piece jobs

That'll put your wheelbase about 3" longer than stock. It won't turn great.

Maybe not so

yes it will have about 3. "
That's actually not a lot
Most Busa riders go like at least 6"
All of em say it doesn't affect cruising normal everyday driving
But harder to kneel corners (drag knees )
So 3" inches just don't seem to much
It's not dramatic like 6" or more

They are wrong.

Stretching the wheelbase is going to make it harder to corner with.

I didn't say it wouldn't affect cornering
It maybe harder to hold a line with out physical effort
But I don't believe it will be that dramatic when speaking of very difficult to turn
Not to mention 3 inches is longer than a cigarette
I know it will have some effect but not unrideable or unreasonable
I've seen way more dramatic numbers and people ride em that's there style

And it's theoretical numbers
Even knowing the numbers doesn't mean you will know how it feels till it's made and tested

I don't get why you would be so against it
What if I accomplish the so called impossible feat of building a fully custom ,fully functioning , rideable bike
But like I've said before will post pictures as the build progresses
Yes failures and successes
Are to be expected

1979 CB750 wheelbase is already long. But, to put it in perspective a 1979 CB750 has a wheelbase of 57in and a 1984 Magna has a wheelbase of 60in. Do you want it to handle like a Magna? A GSXR 750 has a wheelbase of 55in. Not a big difference in distance, but a huge difference in performance. I'm over simplifying, but the point is that you want it shorter not longer.

This is not unknown or am I disagreeing
Does a magna handle horrible ???
Does a springer on a chopper with huge apes and fat rear tire
Handle well ?? No but that guy loves his bike and rides it
Not my style per say
But would be fun to ride a few times
This bike will handle fine handle
And it's theoretical
how do you know how it will handle with the weight of vfr engine instead of cb?? Because oh yes all or nothing I said so the engine will go
It's not used a stressed member on this generation and will squeeze in the space
We can think of it generally
And a idea not know it

I'm not chopping the cb
frame I'm adding mounts
To fit the motor

And I'm not trying to drag my knees in corners either
So however slow the handling is is ok with me as long as I don't have to back up to make u turns like a drag bike

I'm not being critical. I like choppers. I'll be building one this winter. It's all about working through intention. A Magna is a cruiser. Are you building a cruiser? You're sewing together a CB750 and a VFR750. That doesn't sound like you're building a cruiser to me. I was honest in my question when I asked you if you want your bike to handle like a Magna. A Magna does not handle like a CB750, and especially not like a GSXR. The few inches of wheelbase is a contributing factor to that. No one is saying it's going to wreck you, at least I'm not. But, if you want to improve handling you don't lengthen the swing arm. As far as conversations about weight, that's something for your suspension. Will you have to run stiffer springs? Will you need to re-valve the forks?

For the record Cxman I'm not a fan of the chrome slammed out hyabusa
Led lights and way too loud paint job

Yeah I'm going for a cruiser with balls I'm loving the input it's keeping me on my toes
Making sure I check all my variables
But yeah neither bike is similar fusing together won't be easy but looks like I'll get a crazy looking bike v4 engine is a nice motor will run forever
