Cleaning bars-Looking for switches

Hey guys!

So on my next build (XS750) I will go down the clean bars route.Since the motogadget solution is too expensive for me (and I see no sense in it), I will use simplified bar switches like these from Blitz motorcycles.

I would use them as follows:

Left bar Blitz control:
Toggle switch: 3 position Left-Off-On
Push button: Horn

Right bar Blitz control:
Toggle Switch:2 position Hi-Low Headlight
Push button: Starter button

Here´s the problem: In Austria we need to have the headlight flasher too and I dont know where to integrate that on these switches...
Do you have an appealing alternative to the Blitz switches?

These switches are amazing and for a good price!

Did you use them on your XS750?

Hope they come back to me soon.
 
Just checked out my stock bar controls....its a NIGHTMARE:

Left Control:

Hi/Low>>>>???

Pass>>>>Extra Single Button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Turn Signals >>>>TOGGLE (3 Positions) (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Horn>>>>push button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Right Control:

Start>>>push button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Lights On/Off>>>>hardwired...light always stays on with ignition

Kill Switch (3 Positions)>>>TOGGLE (3 Positions) (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

how can I deal with the left hand control problem?
HI/LOW will need a switch too...

I´m thinking about using 3 of these switches (with one toggle and one push button).

So on the left I would mount 2 switches:
2x toggle 2x push button

Left Control:

Hi/Low>>>>TOGGLE (3 Positions) (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Pass>>>>push button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Turn Signals >>>>TOGGLE (3 Positions) (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Horn>>>>push button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)


On the Right 1 switch:
Right Control:

Start>>>push button (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

Lights On/Off>>>>hardwired...light always stays on with ignition

Kill Switch (3 Positions)>>>TOGGLE (3 Positions) (Modern Motorcycle Switch)

The question is:
Will I have enough space to fit these 2 switches without the inner part touching against each other?
So many holes in a bar, will the bar collapse :)?
 
Looks like this might be more clutter than the oem setup! I'd like to go the clean route also but most of these like motogadget have momentary switches that need a secondary latching switch. Give me the m-button with latching switches and I'm on it!

I doubt they will fit if you plan on mounting them on top of eachother. They would need to be side to side.
 
Some British bikes used to have the headlight switch on the headlight, itself.

Might be an option?

Also what does the pass switch do? Kick in the rocket boosters?
 
Nvm I looked, unless it's required over there I'd toss that function.

Sonreir!Good idea!Saves clutter on the bars...

It effin annoys me, we have so strong regulations here that we need to have all the functions available even when modified...
SONIC unfortunately I need to keep that function.

Do people use it over there?
If someone flashed their highs before passing where I live everyone would be very confused and annoyed.
 
Nope not really.Its actually quite a no-go.
Normally people in fat BMW use it when they pull u speeding behind you on the Autobahn ;D

As for the controls I think I found a solution now!

I will use:

LEFT: 1 Double Switch (1 toggle+1 push button) + 1 Single Push button (both Modern Motorcycle)

1 Toggle: Left Blinker/Off/Right Blinker
1 Push Button: Horn

1 Single Push Button:Headlight flasher (Pass)

RIGHT: 1 Double Switch (1 toggle+1 push button) + 1 Single Toggle Switch (both Modern Motorcycle)

1 Toggle: Kill Engine/Run/Kill Engine
1 Push Button: Starter -->>RELAIS!

1 Single Toggle Switch:HI/LOW Light

Light On/Off will be placed in the headlight bucket!

Hope I didnt forget anything.
I already made a tape mockup of the switches...It will be quite long but somehow I like the look and I reach it pretty easily with my thumb on both sides.
Now I will order a clutch lever assembly to see how this will work.
 
I have a question for you guys!

I want to buy a nice gas grip for my XS750 project and I just dont know how I can calculate the right one...
How do I know that a gas grip will work on my single pull triple carb setup?

Stroke on this one is:
max. 46 mm
- 36mm at 80° turning angle

Motogadget only makes sense if youre making a new harness, in which case it makes everything really simple! I think having a lot of buttons in a row can be hard to control with gloves on, but thats just my idea.. about the gas grip, i used a speed throttle first, and it was way too heavy with the spring action, reverted to normal throttle and even bent the return spring a bit to give a softer throttle. Works well now.

Thanks data,I will check when all the components are installed (clutch+gas grip)..this will change the length again for my thumb.
The two buttons most apart should be the stuff I never use when the bike is in motion.

How did you calculate if youre gasgrip has enough stroke?
Or is it just a question of the length of the gas cable?

So I ordered clutch and gas grip and waiting now to fit them an see how everything fits.
Had a quick chat yesterday with the MOT mechanic and he told me that he actually doesnt care if the PASS function isnt on the bars.

My plans now are moving the HI/LOW+ON/OFF of the headlight onto the headlight bucket and removing the PASS function from the bars so I will have 2 switches total (1 left 1 right).

Left (clutch side):

TOGGLE:Blinker
Push button:Horn

Right (gas grip side):
TOGGLE:Kill switch
Push button: Starter
