CB360/390 rewiring !

Sderbyshire

Into Sailing, classic Triumph cars and motorbikes.
Morning all, following the resounding success of the 390 rebuild on my cb390 i’m moving on to the wiring !

I dont like there being spare wires, dont like the big bunch of bullet connectors at the headstock, really dislike the bodges put in place by the po!

So the plan is to strip out the unnnecessary stuff, like park light feature ... does anyone EVER use that?, replace the ignition switch with something electronic, probably an m-lock, and maybe install modern waterproof multi connectors for headlamp and left/right bar switches.

Hopefully i wont release any of the ‘hidden smoke’ thats built into old honda wiring !

Here’s how far ive got, quite a lot of wire removed and everything still working :)

After a good few hours in the garage ive:

Stripped out the bodges
Removes ‘spare’ wiring from the park lights, alternator hi/lo
Simplified the fuses to 1, all my lights are led so draw very little power and dont warrant separate fuses.
Removed the ignition switch
Relocated the horn to the tool box area for a nice clean look at the front
Prepped for m-lock installation

Bike all working still, which is a relief, presently the ignition is turned on with a simple switch !

Next job is to replace the multitude of bullet connectors with modern clip-seal ones.

I started with the rear light connections, and the result is super neat!

Next its the handlebar switchgear to get the tidy treatment :)
