Honda NX650 Dominator tracker

Bonjour!

Serbian guy, i ordered from UK because of tax reasons, im in EU and ordering from USA is more expensive because of tax. Since you're in Serbia, there might be no difference for you. Check these for example or ebay:

Joe, i used 100/90 19 and 120/90 17 but i didn't look for a beefy appearence. If you want it to be more dune-buggy'ish, there's quite more room. Formerly it had 130 in the rear and there's more room in the front too.

Hi Tort, great project you are working on!
I have had a similar one in the garage for a year now, but as I'm new to most of this it's taking a while. But as I enjoy learning by doing, as well as the satisfaction of building stuff, I want to do as much as possible myself. I have never built a wheel, but I would like to have a go at it. And seeing how the front wheel you built is exactly what I want for my project, I hope you can help me in the right direction.

Did you have to get the front 19" 2.10 SM Pro rim custom built to fit the right amount of spokes as well as the angles, or can I order this off the shelf somewhere?
Also, you said you did some calculations and got new spokes. I'm not sure how to do these calculations, could you please share the spoke dimensions I would need for a 19 inch rim to go with the old hub?

Looking forward to watching your build!

Ive had a KTM LC4 before which i didn't modify but did some maintenance on it, so you dont need much experience, but mostly time and patience. So as far as youve already got the bike, go for it!

About front wheel. See the 2 links i posted in the beginning of this page. You just need a rim for 32 spokes. Original one is 1.85 width i think so something around 2.00-2.10 would be good.

Spokes must have same parameters than originals, but they should be (21-19)/2 = 1" shorter. Mine are 9,25" i think.

OR, you can just use a 2nd hand Honda SLR front wheel but then you need a SLR caliper too, if i remember it correctly.

Sick build! Part of me hopes you decide to keep that weird aqua blue for your color scheme. Check out kuler, you can come up with some really great color schemes there.

I made a new seat pan myself and rough cut the old foam so it would fit. My friend who luckily owns a leather shop added a thin extra layer and did the leather. It really turned out nice softness wise, not too hard and not too soft.

Paintjob is going to be modest :) Getting ready for blasting the frame but didn't quite finish covering all necessary holes tonight. Better luck next week.

Hi!
Great job!
I'm sure your bike will be awesome when it'll be finished! :)

My name is Martins and I am from Latvia. Last week I bought nx650, now I am facing with problem almost just like Serbian guy do. I want to keep front wheel hub from my motorcycle and respoke it to 18" rim. I called a man who do this every day, he told me, that i will fail. That's almost impossible and no one does that by himself, because of rim spoke hole angles and right spoke lenghts and problems like Outsider had. Despite that i decided to try and maybe you can help me. So, using your suggested link i think that these spokes and rim will fit to original dominator front hub, despite that their called rear rims. What do you think? (picture in attachment)

P.S.
Here is my previous built. http://failiem.lv/u/yjxvmty

Greetings to Latvia! 8)

SM pro rim will most probably fit, but it's about the spokes, mainly the end that is attached to the hub. See the green picture there, domy's are somewhat like that: http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/spokes/spokes.html So the spoke set you pointed out may not fit (if it's not designed for domy) because of the spoke end specifications and also the length.

All you have to do is measure the original spoke (dismantle the wheel first of course) as described in the green pic and order custom spokes. Basically you need original spoke that is shorter (by (21-18)/2=1,5 inches).

Or, you can send your hub via post to a custom shop and ask them to fit your desired rim and send it back.

Edit: Your previous project looks really cool too!

Battery pack measurement check. Will an 8-cell fit?
