Cb350 cam

The problem with trawling through so many builds and threads is that when you suddenly need some info you read, you can't remember where you found it.
I have a '71 twin with a badly pitted cam. I think I remember reading about earlier model cams ( late 60s ) going into early 70s engines. Slightly lumpier and go straight in? Is this correct? Any particular years?

Early cam needs early rockers as far as I remember.
