New look for the RD400

Nice looking rocket! I almost bought a RD350 as my first bike...kinda glad I didn't...It probably would have killed me before I learned to ride good  I really love the square tanks on these bikes.

Thanks guys! No switch switch gear(if you're referring to the kill switch and controls). I put a toggle switch in the headlight bucket for the lights and drilled a hole in the side of the bucket to run the key housing through. I like just having a key because with the kill switch I would forget to turn the key off and that can fry the dyna pick ups.

Pipes are moto carrera, with tz mike shorty silencers. It's loud. I also redid the stingers to add the upslope.

would you recommend the battlax tires?

Here's a little sneak peak of what I'm working on

Yeah I love them, don't think you can get a better street tire for the price. The front tire pictured is a 100/90 which they discontinued, so I have a 90/90 ready to go on with the new brake, I'll let you know how it goes.

thinking bout gettin those bt´s!but the heidenau k65 look fine too :) but are more expensive.

where did you get that beautiful chain/sprocket combination?did you do smthing to the teeth ratio?

cheers!

I did the 520 conversion by adding two wheel spacers in the rear, and two lock washers on the front. Went up one tooth in the back, so 17x39. Some people drop the front to the 16, but I ride a lot of freeway.

Didn't read this right the first time I replied. Sprockets are from sprocketspecialists.com. Chain is a DID erv3, use to have the non oring ert2 chain but that stretched like butter. Economy Cycles sells the spacers for the 520 conversion.

since your bike is just perfect you'll get a lot of questions:)
noob question: what is 520?is that the width of the chain?

am i right or did you reuse the old seat mountings with a new seat?
did you reuse the metal base plate?

totally looks awesome...thinking about doing the same...dont want to hack around on that rare little frame.:)
this bike is so inspirational.
