Here i will log the progress of yet another Cb360. Ive owned this bike for nearly 3 years now as it sat in my old garage and watched many many other random projects. Well now it has come time to tackle the 360 and put some distance between its current state and where id like for it to be. First off ill start by saying i picked the ol gal up for 300 dollars and a set of old sub woofers (pretty good deal if you ask me) followed by a high five. Its state among purchase was almost but not quite running. it looked to have been previously restored by one of the POs. They didnt exactly do a good job at it either. My Camera is giving me a fit so ill add pics when i can get them on my computer. More later.

Re: My Cb360 Build Log

Welcome fellas! Ill start by posting some pics of the bike when i picked it up. The last owner painted it hunter green with a rustoleum rattle can... Guess thats all he had in the shed..

Re: My Cb360 Build Log

Next up marks about 2 years ago, shortly after i bought the bike and was full of motivation. I started by taking off the bulky stuff and fenders.. Shortly after i pulled the tank off and wire wheeled it down to the metal. Basically i was sick of seeing the hunter green spray bomb tank job. I put a clear sealer on it until i decide what color i wanna go with.

Side note: When removing the nasty paint job i discovered that the factory paint was good ol RED.. This my come into play later on..

Here she is stripped down some. The first pic is from my old garage, It shows the 360 beside my other project. It was an 82 maxim 400 bobber project. got bored with it too and sold it lol

This was the condition it stayed in for a couple years when i lost interest in it. Now that im back at it, this will be the new starting point.

Re: My Cb360 Build Log

Got the bike running a couple weeks ago.. runs like pure crap of course but it is alive.. (though its on life support) Anywho all it took was a fresh batt, main fuse and a new starter solenoid. I also had to ditch my fuse box because the connector that came off it was horrible corroded and pretty much ruined. the cool thing was how easy it ended up being. there are 6 wires total that go through the connector and three go to one side of the fuse box and then the three coming out of the fuse box go back into the connector. Making a loop so to speak. so all i did was cut off the connector all together and spliced in 3 inline fuses with a little dead light that lets me know when its been popped. looks kinda ghetto but the main goal was function over form for this task. ill post up pics of that tomorrow.

PLANNNNNNNS!!!!!!!

Get bike running and road worthy for the season
After the season is up I want to do a complete rebuild over winter (engine, paint, fancy doodads, etc)

Plans for now

Engine needs a full tune. (carbs, points adjust, timing, valves) and whatever else i find to tune in the mean time
Not really worried about looks for now, i just want it to work

Ill Need: tires, tune, title sorted out, tail light (not running the huge factory one lol) Fix leaky fr brake lever... Prob some things im leaving out but im drawing a blank right now so ill post up later if i remember.

One more thing.. Im sure there are those out there who are doing Restorations on other 360s. I dont really plan on keeping any of my factory stuff i remove so if you would like to buy any of it or trade items just let me know. Ill also post pics of the leftovers tomorrow too.

Re: My Cb360 Build Log

Its about that time again for another update. Since the last post ive added some clip on bars, removed tabs on the back, fasioned up a seat and hate it, cut the ass off, fixed the carbs (missing the idle screw mechanism) made mounts for my rear fender and shipped it off for a fine tuning. i managed to do well enough getting it running now it just needs the fine tuning and special touches that are beyond my skills.

The bike is coming along nicely. much better than i thought. im starting to get into areas that are going to require some money to get them how i want them and right now things are a little tighter than id like so im having to go rather slow. as soon as funds open up im gonna hit this thing wide open.

i still need to buy some tune up odds and ends, then id like to suck it up and just pick up a good seat. prob one from dime city cycles. those guys are awesome btw. it doesnt matter if i spend a little or a lot they alway send me some free stickers lol. i know stickers arent nothing to get excited about but its a nice gesture for the customers if you ask me. they will always be my first choice when it comes to my cafe needs. id love to have the bike in good enough shape to make the long trip down to fla and personally check the place out but thats a long ways off at the moment.

Pics..

note to self.. never use the stiffer more course foam when making a seat. i didnt know which was best so i used a little of each. it nearly bit me in the ass. either way the seat came out like trash so itll be ditched soon. i also made new gauge brackets that still look bad but not as bad. also temp lol

DSCN0642_zpsa81e1274.jpg

you can see above how sponge looking the foam was. not good for wrapping! and below is after a little more work

first layer, and here which i should have said earlier, im not a huge fan of an abrupt bump or high bump on the back for a seat i think dime city cycles has made the best version ive seen on their brass cafe. im also a huge fan of mista2's seat on his loud bike build. the man has skills!

also here i accomplished none of the before said lol.

the next day this lil sucker came in. this was the reason my idle was stuck at 4k.. the old one was completely missing all but a piece of the end that was jammed in to the adjust point

Re: My Cb360 Build Log

long story short i added a few more layers of glass and resin and then started trimming... a lot of trimming.. hell i cut most of the damn thing away and had half what i started with lol. anyways once all this was to a good stopping point i loaded the thing up and took it to a buddy of mine for some fine tuning and expertise. his notes were that ill need to rejet and rebuild the carbs which i kinda saw coming but thought a good cleaning would be enough for now.. nope. im also gonna go ahead and get a points set up becuse it looks as if the last owner replaced one side and not the other. ill just get both. i need a throttle cable because the outside rubber on mine broke. lastly ill need a petcock or a rebuild kit for mine and a set of hoses and filters for the fuel lines. tank could use a good clean and a lining to. all in all its not gonna be a super costly tune up but its all stuff that needs doing

here are the trailer pics. you can also get an idea of what i ended up with as far as a seat goes. its not much but for now itll do.

Anybody have any idea on how to get a title in NC? ive been told that since my frame has been modified it can be classified as a custom. i really dont want to go this route and i have the title for the bike but somewhere a long the line it was filled out and never sent off so i basically have a useless title on my hands.
