1976 Honda CB550 (my first build ever) rebuild cafe

Looks nice, where did you source the bronze swing arm bushings?

Thanks

I got these and based on the quality and finishing, I am expecting nothing but excellence from them. There are some cheaper ones on ebay, but i went for quality

Cool, thanks for the link.

yep, quality, what I go with all the time.

I'm installing a 550 swing arm on my 750, and wanted to install new bushings before hand.

I got the wiring done...interestingly the electric starter button isnt working (it just turns the headlight off) but everything else seems to work.. I can jump the starter still.

But here are some pics

That's normal on the old Honda start buttons. You can carefully pull it apart and clean the corrosion and burn't bits then dielectric grease it and it should be fine. It's supposed to kill the headlight while started turns to help keep the battery in good shape.

Don't let the button return spring (or any other small very loseable parts) pop out if you take your starter switch apart!

Aye, I was going to say the same thing. I'm not sure what the insides of SOHC starter buttons look like but the DOHC one has a tiny spring-loaded ball bearing inside that is desperate to launch itself into the darkest corner of the known universe.

Good to know, that will be a problem to deal with later. Right now I just need to get this all back together. It finally feels like I'm getting there

Another interesting wiring question:

So i got a 2 prong led flasher with a ground. I plugged the 2 wire in and the ground to the green wiring cable. The flasher work and turn on/off but the flasher relay clicks constantly like the flashers are on?

Any idea of what can be going on here? seems really strange

Are you asking how to fit a 2 pin flasher relay to hondas OEM 3 pin setup?......try this....
Connect the cable named 49 or B from the OEM turn signal relay socket with the flashers live pin/cable. Connect the cable named 49a or L
from the OEM turn signal relay socket with the flashers earth pin/cable. The remaining third socked cable (if existing) will be not used and
insulated after cutting off the socked.

I could have sworn I had read that it was a 2 pin system and there was a 3rd cable that was just a ground. Ill have to look into what you said and see if i can make it work. otherwise ill get a 3 pin flasher.

New Rear wheel bearings in, wheel back on. Need to button a few things up and then were good....still need to out front brake on

I moved the battery. Can anyone spot it? Haha

I also got a new front brake/lines and installed that. Still need to bleed it.....what's the difference between dot 4 and dot 3?
