why is this in restorations? because I'm not "cafe"ing it.
This was a motorcycle I bought off the customer. we did some work to it but sometime after it left, the choke plate on one of the carbs vibrated apart and the motor sucked the piece in, ruining the valves. very expensive fix
he sold it to me rather than pay to get it fixed.
here's how it sat when I got it. you can tell he was into "rat" bikes.
I tore it completely apart into every little piece and am restoring it to a nice clean daily driver bike.
I split the cases on the motor, had the cases steamed and boiled to get all the oil sludge out, rebuilt the bottom end making sure the tranny was good, here is putting the new top-end on. I also painted the cases graphite grey metallic, and the fins/covers wrinkle black.
My plan was to KEEP this bike for myself, I always wanted a 350.
problem is I barely make any money and I need to pay rent soon.
So I am rushing to get it done and try to list it in the local craigslist ads as a running bike.
I started painting the fender/bucket/tank. I got the tank totally de-rusted and primered, then I'm going to bodywork it smooth and paint it.
I wired the bike from scratch (I wire bikes all the time from scratch at my job, as you can see from the pics, I work at a shop) I wired the bike to run turn signals but I might not have time to buy some and put them on.
as it sits RIGHT NOW, I need to install the drive chain, run the fuel lines, fill the motor with oil, install air filters, and start it up. all the cables ARE installed, as well as the exhaust. I don't have a pic of the exhaust on but its in a more complete stage than this last picture implies.
cosmetically it needs a seat and paint on the tank then its done.
