I was taking my side covers off to touch up the black and white, but first I need to take the badges off the cover. I have no idea how to take the little clips off the plastic standoffs without grenading them into millions of pieces. Any advice?
This can be near impossible -- those pegs are 40 years old and brittle as hell. Be careful, don't force anything, and expect to use epoxy to get them back on.
If you can bend the small tangs up a touch you can then use long-nose pliers to screw/turn them off the pegs,a touch of lube can help. Or, snip them with side cutters and replace with new.
