Inherited Grandpa's old Bike. Cafe Time!

Got some work done lately. She is starting to look like a real bike again. All that is really left is to figure out the electrical issues,which a part of me is considering just ripping the signals off and saying F California. Still also have to clean and paint the tank and figure out my seat situation.

You could just as easily say EF the stock harness if it's giving you troubles and just run your own leads to the signals. Although it's a little more work and you have to string them through the bike (can look messy if not done cleanly of course).

Looking good though!

Thanks for the info, guys. This baby is almost road worthy! I need some more advice though of course. Rear shocks, what should I get? Im on a budget for sure but I dont want the cheapest ebay set that will break on the first speed bump. Any suggestions?

Get a hold of Chris: www.chrislivengood.net He'll be building a set for my bike.

Let me know if you can't figure it out and we'll get you sorted. Give it a shot first just to learn :) Check out Sonreir's link to the electrical section. Tons of good stuff there.

Ok Im getting some help with the electrical issues, hopefully I can get to that on Monday. For now Im striping down the tank and getting it ready for fresh paint and also attempting to make a seat from a skateboard. Got one in decent shape for $5 and I have some nice foam in the garage I can use.

Ok so I had fully painted my tank. It looked gorgeous minus my horrible attempt at filling my dent with bondo. Well, the dent filled but I just couldnt get the sanding right to blend it nicely. Anyway, I found the marble paint job tutorial and decided to give it a shot. So I restripped the tank and started painting again. The first picture is my first paint job and the second is my unfinished marble attempt.

So... you like the marble?

He did it wrong.

Marbelized paint is awesome. My cousin Shawn has won several trophies from a paint job he did on a Suzuki boulevard.

Google it. ::)

I don't need to Google it, and to each their own. Marble away. I specifically meant, not THAT marble. Don't cover up a blemish, fix it. Then paint.

This is a forever bike. As mentioned much earlier in this thread, the primary goal is to get this bike, my grandfathers old bike, looking as good as it can get so my grandmother can see it run and look nice before her time is up. This bike isnt going anywhere so I will likely paint it a couple more times over the next few decades. I dont think it turned out half bad :)
