Yamaha FS1 Black Bomber Inspired Café

Hello DoTheTon!

I've been following the forums for a while and am delighted to finally be able to make my own thread!
I'm 20 and live in Antwerp, Belgium. My dream is to one day have a Honda CB450 Black Bomber,
but well.. Let's face it. I'm poor! No way that's happening soon. ;)

I'm quite an impatient bugger, so I thought to myself:
"Why the hell would I wait?" I have a nice Yamaha FS1 1J6 DX 1976 in my garage.
(I believe a lot of english people on here have a history with this model) ;)
Why not make a café racer from it, inspired on the Black Bomber? And so it starts..

Going 45km/h isn't exactly fun, so I've already installed a 60cc cilinder and installed an unrestricted FS50 exhaust.
That's all I'm going to do with the engine, since It goes 90km/u right now and extra changes would mean it would be less pretty.
Also, I don't think police likes mopeds that go 100+.. 90 is more agreeable, no? ::)

Here's some pictures of it in original state:

With my friend's FS1 Café: (mine is the yellow one)

(some hippie removed my plate that said "Another car less". (to motivate people to ride bicycles, since that's better for the enviroment)
thought it'd be nice to stick it on the butt of a moped that spits as much co2 as a small truck

Some changes I'll make:

- Install a honda C320 gas tank
- Paint side covers in black
- Remove footrest and go for a more sporty position
- Remove fenders and go for a nice small front fender
- Brat saddle (need to be able to transport my girlfriend)
- Get rid of humongous rear light and install bullet-ish light
- Find headlight with integrated speedo.

Most changes will be esthetical, this is my first project, and I repeat; I'm poor.
I'm trying to make it look the way Honda would have made a tiny Black Bomber racer. (also, something more racy would attract too much police attention)

FIRST UPDATE:

Honda C320 tank arrived. It's in quite nice condition, but will need repainting. It's It was exactly 5mm too small for my frame, so I decided to gently stroke it with a hammer. Here's a quick mockup:

Now the boring part begins, while I wait for parts to arrive, and my gas tank to come back from the painter.

I'm not going to make a brat saddle myself, since I wan't it to be comfortable. (Can't trust myself!)
Vonzeti (http://vonzeti.com) are willing to make me a T20 seat on an FS1 seat pan!

Mine 'll be in black leather.

Finely found the motivation to actually photoshop ALL the changes I'll do, instead of half.. I'm a bit of a lazy ass sometimes! ::)
Here we go:

I might install 19" wheels instead of the 17" ones i have right now to reduce these big gaps. If that's not enough,
I can always shorten the fork and install a smaller rear shock!
Got to think a that a bit more trough though, since that'll affect my ground clearance.
(already scratched my exhaust a few times while taking sharp corners)

Maybe anyone has some comments or opinions?
(Currently working on a badge emblem combo between honda & yamaha)

Progress is going slowly since I'm currently looking for a new job.
What did happen:

Clip-ons & headlight brackets installed, giving it a lower stance. Since the position is way lower than it was,
I adjusted my position by removing the standard footsteps and using the passenger footsteps. I was originally thinking of installing a rearset, but that would be silly since this position is perfect. Shifting is easy with the new shifting pedal, and I made a friend cut out a speedometer bracket, since originally it sticked out around 7cm (ugly) I'm going to place it a bit lower though, since I think it's a bit too high right now.

Overall I'm quite happy with the changes already. Even after longer rides (200km, at a FS1-meeting for example) it's really comfortable, and my back doesn't get sore. Doing corners is insanely more fun as well! A downside however, is that it's even more difficult to keep myself from breaking the speed limit.

With the current changes I was curious about how it'd look with the other tank, so here you go:
