  • Thanks for that analysis. I would be taking that as mine and so the rebuilt title wouldn't bother me and if I did have to sell for some reason braking even or a small loss because of it would be ok. That bike here is USD is 2-3K more because of the market. I would not need it back to stock, just ridable, dings, scratches, cracked plastics all could stay, the foot pegs are 50-60 USD on Ebay right now.

  • Current bid on that bike is $1850.00. Looking at it and assuming no frame or motor  damage I think I could make it a cheap rider for about $1000 more. So $3000 and it still has a branded title which makes it worth about 50-75% of market value.  I found a nice 2014 Tiger a few miles from my house for $5000.  So maybe I can get $2500-4000 out of the wrecked model after I fix it. If I keep it then it might be worth it.

  • Rider52:
  • Yes, but the estimate include man hours, so figure $100-150 per hour to apply the repairs. Putting the bike back 100% stock with new parts is very pricey.

  • Maritime:
  • THanks Irk. I'd need to see what the border would do in that case
  • Oct 17, 2019, 16:44:31
  • Maritime:
  • So the 2014 Triumph they estimated over 8K in repairs
  • Oct 17, 2019, 16:44:09
  • irk miller:
  • If it's a salvage title, then there is no other title, which means the registration and title is reset.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 16:43:46
  • Maritime:
  • Thanks, good to know.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 16:42:54
  • Rider52:
  • Here's a final bit of information you need before you bid. The estimated cost of repairs has to exceed the replacement cost of the vehicle before most insurance companies salvage them. It use to be 50-75%, but now bikes are more expensive.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:40:33
  • Rider52:
  • We only bought bikes within 150 miles so one of us could go inspect the actual damage. We still got bit a couple of times.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:36:50
  • Rider52:
  • Should be "BID" above.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:34:42
  • Rider52:
  • Always, always have someone go inspect them before you big. The bent or missing foot pegs might include a hole in the crankcase. COPART and other salvage dealers most often won't disclose this damage hoping you will rely on the pictures or videos.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:34:12
  • Maritime:
  • That damn Triumph just needs foot pegs from the looks of it. Which means the bids would likely go way higher
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:31:36
  • Maritime:
  • Good to know. I'd be ok for the title as NH is an exempt from needing a title to import so I can use the last registration and it wouldn't be "Salvage" once in Canada
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:29:20
  • Rider52:
  • I dealt with COPART for several years. The salvage titles are a problem and often can't be resolved even after a rebuild. Rebuilding cost often exceeds the final value of the motorcycle.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:28:02
  • Maritime:
  • there is actually like 3 bikes worth looking at and I would go see them, then watch the auctions and bid on one, if out bid then try the next etc.
  • Oct 17, 2019, 15:26:34
  • Maritime:
  • Yeah, that one is close enough I could go look at it if I was serious and bid after

  • Oct 17, 2019, 11:24:24

  • ^^ that is an easy fix and if I could get it for 3-4K would flip for 2X that easy if I needed to sell it. I'd buy it to ride the crap out of though
