  • Maritime:
  • still the museum and all the bikes you get to see, the feel of the event is getting a little to comercial and about $$$ in some places but you can just not go to those etc.

  • The Ace thing has gone a bad way, but most of us have moved into swap spaces that line up back to back, so Barber was a great time last year.
  • Jun 17, 2019, 11:52:18
  • Maritime:
  • all it takes is a slightly tight valve to give you 0 compression and if it gets tighter you get bent

  • Maritime:
  • NJ, did you check your tappet clearances?

  • The Vintage Festival has kinda lost its magic for me.  But - the Small Bore looks like a lot of fun in early June.  Might try for that next year.  If I'm down here near Savannah GA in October and have a chance, I might make the drive over but likely will be up in Toronto spending a long weekend at the cottage.

  • SONIC.:
  • if its just carbon buildup it should be fine, if it's bent you can lap away with no gain
  • Jun 17, 2019, 09:45:21
  • SONIC.:
  • Yeah, depends on why it's leaking
  • Jun 17, 2019, 09:44:56
  • Nj732port:
  • did a leak down and theres air coming from the exhaust valve... kicked a million times to loosen it up but no luck...can i just pull the head and lap the valves to the seat?

  • Nice Nick.  that's always good. Did you figure out the price on some vinyl yet?
  • Jun 14, 2019, 12:34:03
  • advCo:
  • The tint for the Raptor Liner is $120 total for what I need. Just found a company that makes bedliner tint for less than half the price. Sweet, now I can afford the color I want

  • advCo:
  • Whats up today fellas
  • Jun 14, 2019, 11:57:16
  • Maritime:
  • Yep and you can maybe put some seafoam in to clean the valves out if it is carbon, Check the tappet clearance too they can tighten just enough to get 0 compression as well. I hope though that you didn't have the same issue the virago had with a failed cam and spum cam
  • Jun 14, 2019, 10:08:12
  • Nj732port:
  • thanks advco
  • Jun 13, 2019, 16:05:18
  • advCo:
  • pull the valve cover and just look at the valves you'll be able to tell if ones sticking open
  • Jun 13, 2019, 15:50:03
  • advCo:
  • tap the top of the valve with a hammer
  • Jun 13, 2019, 15:49:44
  • Nj732port:
  • not really sure about how to go about any of this other than kicking the bike over until it frees itself up
  • Jun 13, 2019, 14:54:42
  • Nj732port:
  • I am thinking/hoping the exhaust valve is just not closing due to carbon build up from it running rich.... the bike turns/kicks over but there is no compression at all....... I am hoping I just need to unstick the valve but we will see
  • Jun 13, 2019, 14:54:20
