These look great.  Just today I was having a brainstorm over a possible Michigan logo.

The first one is wrong :) it's missing the space between CAFE and RACERS.  This was an early prototype of the logo which just won't fuckin' die.  DELETE IT!!!! Before any more patches or anything is made with that error in it.  I have a 12" embroidered patch with no space in it.

I would hope that the Michigan DTT patch would have the outline of the state in the spade rather than Detroit. I would much rather represent the state than a city, you can add a city or town to it if that is where your from if you want.

Is there a photoshop or illustrator template with layers that I can download anywhere?  I've got a MI statewide logo almost ready, but I'm having a bitch of a time bending the lower text in a way that looks decent.

Here's what I've got so far:

The Michigan Crew has finally agreed on a logo.

Designed by member jsouthard.

Not sure if Detroit will have its own as well.

Edit: For whatever reason this image doesn't want to display.  I'll attach it here as well...

Title: Re: ** The official DTT REGIONAL COLOURS**
Post by: dcwp on Sep 16, 2009, 14:03:33
Yeah, we talked about including the UP in the logo (isn't there a new state law that all official state symbols have to include it?).  In the end, we voted and it seems that it made the patch too busy, so aesthetics won out.  You can find the discussion in the Michigan regional section.

I've noticed that the Midwest group includes the UP in their list of places they cover, but of course any Upers who aren't offended by the logo would be welcome in the MI group too.

Are you a Uper?  I thought you were a troll too.

nah.  formerly of oxford michigan.  got my degree at grand valley.  now i live in indiana.  i asked because those Upers can be pretty sensitive.  i think the patch looks good.  as a former michigander, am i part of the group?

I think either the star or the state-both and it's too busy. If you want both, take out the TX and put a regular (not nautical) star in the state.

I think we should combine OK,AR, and MO into an Ozark region. But...Who the hell am I to say ;)
The state outlines of these three states is awkward and unwieldy. Does anyone have an idea for a symbol for the Ozarks?

any of you p-shop pros want to tackle a patch for indiana?

I was thinking something with like 2 checkered flags in the center like this:

Since we are home to "the greatest spectacle in racing"

maybe centered in the state outline?

True..

Indianapolis replaced with Do in bigger font.
Motor replaced with a vertical The
Speedway replaced with Ton in bigger font.

It would be interesting to see.  Do you think there would be a hard time getting the patch made since the logo is most likely copywritten?

The Chick riders patch that is posted is just an early prototype for the Highside club.  Also, is there on for the Fight Club?  If not, ya'll know I am game to create one.

if someone out there is still doin the fight club patches i think it would look pretty cool if you just incorporated brass knuckles into the center rather then the spade, plus can a member still qualify for the high side club if he was just pushed off the highway by a transport truck?

Remove the flag bar and the state outline and use only the lone star.

We need a Chicago DDT logo, I thinks pictures inserted into the spade or replacing the spade would look nice, I have photoshop, but I really don't know how to use it, can someone do some mock ups then we can vote on which one will represent Chicago:

I think most of us have ended up copying the artwork off here and sending it/taking, whatever, to an embroidery shop or online patch maker.  Most of em can come up with a small quantity deal.  That's kinda where I am on getting some dirty south patches made up.

well.....has or is anyone going to be making up any of the DTT Highside Club patch & the DTT Chick Riders patch????

if not I can look into making those two up. All I would need is a rough number of people that would want them so I know how many to get made and also so I don't make a bunch and get stuck with them all !

Not to put a damper on it for anyone but in this case all copyright stays with the original artist unless otherwise stated. My wife works in intellectual property and has to explain to a lot of her cases that just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's free.

Thanx to the efforts of Surplus6 and John Ashmore I've had the DTT / UK decals made and the matching patches should be on their way to me just after Christmas.

Thanks to all the UK Chapter and others who have chipped in with design suggestions.

I think what we have defines the UK element but still with a firm connection to the parent organisation.

This is still the rough artwork [ top 2 red diagonals ] but the finished artwork has now been rendered by John Ashmore and it's superb.

Not restricted to UK members, if anyone out there is interested in the UK patches / decals let me know.

I'm currently in discussions with a US based company [ well known to this parish ] to handle US and initially, Canadian orders. That will be for the DTT stuff and any John Hancox art and other merchandise. That's likely to happen early in the New Year.

Most ppl take the artwork off here to either a custom embroidery shop, or online patch makers. The cost is higher to just run small batches, but if I were guessing, some of the designs on this thread have never been made. There are some dirty south patches floating about tho.

Here they are guys - the Official DTT / UK Chapter patches and decals.

The Patches are 100mm / 4" [ nominal ] and the decals are 80mm [ 3" nominal ].

Graphics courtesy of those fine fellows over at JCA Graphics [ thanx John ] with not a little help from Surplus6.

UK / EU buyers see the DTT UK Chapter posts, for our US and Canadian cousins whose life would just not be complete without them - check out Brother Joe's DWMS racing Emporium.

Some of you have asked for them to be sent direct from the UK - that's not a problem. I'll get the US / canadian posting rates tomorrow [ 9th. Jan ] and they can be ordered by PM'ing me and I'll let you have Paypal details.

The Cafe-Moto logo is now back in circulation [ after 30 years ! ] and has seen a slight update courtesy of artist John Hancox - also available direct or through DWMS Racing.
The slogan "we're not going back to the sixties - we never left" seems to have struck a chord.

US AND CANADIAN POST RATES - 2 X DECALS, 2 X PATCHES £2.20
                                                   4 X DECALS, 4 X PATCHES £2.75

The shipment is now on the way to DWMS Racing and should arrive by the weekend.

So all you guys who contacted me - please go direct to DWMS [ link top of page ]. The carriage was quite reasonable for the first consignment - certainly cheaper per order than doing them direct from the UK in ones and twos.

Brother Joe will work out the US price when he has all the final on-costs.

Thats gonna be a spendy patch with 4 thread colors, but it looks damn nice f'sure.

You might be surprised - most shops have machines setup with a certain number of color spools, so as long as you're within that range the cost doesn't change.  Can't remember how many colors it is though - worth asking before you start simplifying the design.

Whenever the patch is digitized they have to create color separated art. That commonly increases the setup fee on a custom job.

I REALLY want to get some made but dont have the cash to front an order myself. So, unless I can find a small batch joint that does high quality work (honestly havent been looking much, have bikes to waste my time on ;) ) and is somewhat affordable, no patches on my end.

Heres a quick-ish one i did.  Similar to LA's patch, but i just couldnt help it.  Love the Chicago skyline.

Not sure why the white turned grey during the upload, but you get the idea.  *Its actually a negative of the original too, i dont know what happened...*

as soon as my build is done, i'm getting one of these made and stitched to my jacket!

I'm a Brit on the East Coast; can I wear the UK patch and the East Coast patch- 2 more patches is just what I need on an already over crowded jacket!

Anyone with Para connections can have what they want !!!

My Uncle Harold [ 18 ] died at Putot en Auge August 1944 helping to liberate Dozule - a Para.

PM me for details of how to get the UK DTT patch and decals  - I have stock.

Ok folks... Here we go. Although Twisted did create one awhile back, I thought something with a more traditional flair would be cool for the Bobber and Chopper minded folks around here. In comes our main man Crescent. Let me know what you guys think. I for one, think its perfect.

I'm sure embroider shops (for school uniforms and whatnot) would do patches? If not they might now how to get them done. I know on the online stores or companies that are online, if you have a new picture to be embroidered it is like 60 bucks just for them to convert the image into the format the computer/machine can read to make the stitches. me and a buddy tried getting some Merchant marine hats made witht the crest, but we weren't going to pay that for a couple hats.

Post by: CrescentSon on Aug 04, 2012, 17:43:28
The fee to set up an image for a 2-3 inch patch is usually around 30 bucks with a minimum order. The issue is the amount you have to order to get a decent price. Most print shops farm out embroidery, but it'll cost you. I have found sites that will do minimum orders of 6, at a staggering cost of just under $20 a piece. The prices don't really get reasonable until you get in the 50 count range ($2-$3 each).

I think 5-10 bucks a patch is reasonable.. I mean its sewn to you so your not going to lose it. But thats me.

Recovering from a crazy night out, decided to try something fun that didn't involve going outside and melting.

Arizonans, any  ideas?
In my head: instead of the state outline, a roadrunner? for cities/communities, a star on the "map" outline?
The state flag is too colorful for my tastes (the simple Oregon Blue and Gold has tainted my view), to be on something like this, but I'm open to suggestions.

The quality is reduced (yet still the image is ginormous. go figure. too lazy to worry about it). Alignment of the letters is off and skewed , but again, just messin' around.

It took a while to make it here. I just read back though this thread and didn't see us Indiana Boys repesented ;)
I created this one over on the "Hoosier DTT Crew" thead back on Apr 28, 2010.
Then it was sent to tWistedWheelz and posted it on his thead "interest in DTT Stickers?" for approval.
But then El Guapo got ahold of it a ran with it!  8)  Got mine in the mail not too long ago. Props to him for the ambition and making my design come to life!

I like the design. Maybe just adding the state colors of blue and gold to the mix in the checkerboard in the background? Or throwing some saguaro cactus in there somewhere would be cool.

I think the Dirty South patch should have a moon shine jug in the center or an outhouse. ;-)

We have one for Aus, and I see you already found the thread for them.

If anyone else is looking you will find them here.

I would hope that the Michigan DTT patch would have the outline of the state in the spade rather than Detroit. I would much rather represent the state than a city, you can add a city or town to it if that is where your from if you want.

You can't have a Michigan without the Uppers... The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is Home to my dad and the old family, I would like to see this changed or a new version also.
