Hello. This is some kind blog of my projects. Im doing widely all kind of stuff so this sort of blog feels right to me
Something about me first. Im 20 years old bachelor of engineering from Finland. So Ill graduate as mechanical engineer in few years. I become inspired from old bikes, cars and other vintage stuff. My currently project is cafe/brat style Honda cb400 ive been building a while now. Also Ive been doing some joinery recently.
I try to be active on this blog and update it atl east few times a week.
So my Honda project is readyish, but theres something still I want to change.
The bike is Honda cb 400 twin. It was in very good condition when I get it few years back. Last summer the look of the bike satisfied me but the performance of the bike wasnt good. Carburators didnt work with free flow air filters.
This winter I totally teared the bike down to atoms and started brain stormig and thinking whats next. My thought was to paint the body, do an engine overhaul. I also wanted some details on bike like strip everything not needed off from the handle bar and make minor control switches to bar.
Anyways here is some footage from the past. Painting, making the seat, pics from last summer ect.
Today I was building a painting booth in my garage hall. I used metal pipe to body and covered it with tarp.
Booth is attached to back wall by hinges so its possible to lift the booth up with winch. Thats because I dont need the booth all the time so its very practical if I can winch it up if I need the space for car ect.
Also I thought to make some kind of ventilation to the booth so painting chemicals moves out. I put few pipes to make kind of flue from the booth to outside of hall.
The booth isnt ready yet, still need the winch and some kind of fan to ventilation so gasses moves out.
Something about place Im working in. It is half of a big hall, in small shipyard. The hall is built for a ship, but now there is wall which separates the hall in two smaller section.
Hall is pretty big, garage room is something around 120m2 so there is plenty on room to rock. There is balcony built for a "inspiration" room in hall. Hope Im able to add "panorama" pictures here
Hell yeah that's some work space man sure beats my shoebox haha :-[ enjoy the journey mate and keep the updates flowing (along with a few beers ) always here for Q&A's
Thank you! Haha, I used to work in "shoe box" before so yes this is dream compared to that
I told Ive worked on some wood stuff and joinery kind of things. Few months ago I did a coffee table. I got the the idea when I found long and thick waned plank and I thought is just nice for making a table top. The deck was pretty massive i guess 2" thick so also legs had to be. Legs are made of 4" x 4" lumber, and skirt/frame is 2" x 2" lumber. Table is stained with "dark mahogany" and varnished. Im annoyed I havent more pics of working progress Deck stained, deck stained and varnished, and finished table.
Today I was cleaning and painting my bikes engine. I thought to paint it black, cause it would be easier to "maintain" smart looking. It would oxidice too fast if i polished it only. Painted body and swing too. Also polished engine sides a little bit.
I drop few tears today. Bikes last owner had to be some kind of retard. Well, I measure a piston of the bike a while ago and ordered new pistons. I got the pistons few days back and today I quick fitted the piston to the cylinder. The cylinder was loose..? I fitted to another cylinder, it was good. So last owner has only replaced one piston and drilled one cylinder to bigger!? I measured old pistons again so yes. One 70.5mm another 71mm.
Thanks! Havent doing much lately. Been so nice weathers to snowboard so havent been in the hall for a while.
Im sketching ideas of balcony furnitures Ill make before summer. Id like to do one petite but firm wood table and some low stools.
Here is my worktable I resurfaced some weeks ago. The table was pretty bad condition or more likely it was just ugly when I got it but its solid wood so I decided to get it. Now a days is so fucking hard to find good furnitures cause everything is made of chipboard shit. The table was painted all white and the paint was peeled off some where. I sanded all paints off and let my stain brush swing. I paintet drawers black and got new knobs. I think little details gives nice look.
I had a small sheetmetal work project at school. Assignment was to make something from sheet metal. My group decided to make aluminium side panniers. Made from 2mm aluminium sheet, cutted with plasmacutter, bended with cnc bend press and welded with tig.
Since I finished my motorcycle project I wanted to start a new project.
Last summer I bought 1973 Ford Taunus. That is the new project. Orginal condition is kind of well.. Alot of rust, engine is lazy and congested 1,6l ohc.
