Re: project "Vaseline" cb550 build

F-ing sick man! Building something very similar myself... How's the suspension feel? What kind of settings do you have going on with the forks? Loooove them both (and the fixie in the background ;) ) -Joe

Re: project "Vaseline" cb550 build

Thanks guys, I am glad you like it. To tell you the truth, I havent ridden it around much yet, but boy does it stop much better now! I will have to work on the fork settings later on down the road, now I just want to cruise the thing. On that note, an one in the san luis obispo area? just moved up here and am curious about the cafe scene here.

Yep, that is a fixie in the back ground... lots o fun by itself

Re: project "Vaseline" cb550 build

The tank is from a 750 super sport. I cut out large knee reliefs, and folded in the tunnel a little ro narrow the back end, then welded in new side panels, and gas cap from the stock 550 tank, and a section to make the back of the tank smooth all the way down to the seat

Re: project "Vaseline" cb550 build

Tell me about your taillight setup on your CB550.
Are they led's?

OK got it from teh sohc4 forum. shoulda read it first....

very interesting build. I'm walking down a somehwat similar path on my build. Your build is some major motivation for me now!

Re: project "Vaseline" cb550 build

Amazing work. This is the new inspiration for my cafe build.

Made a little progress on the H1.

Got the rear brake caliper plumbed, and finished up the wiring so it's all hidden.

Not much to show what was done, but heres a little bit of an updated pic...moving along SLOWLY!!!

Holy crap man I love both those bikes they are just Right. I love upside down forks. And I definitely love the h1 where are you located at. and give us more details those are the coolest bikes I've seen in a while.

Thanks guys for the kind words.

I am located in San luis Obispo CA.

The 550 I just finished up, some specs include

inverted forks
ported and polished
cb650 cam (good easy swap for those with 550s)
yoshimura exhaust
rear sets
home made tank and seat
rebuilt engine
did rims front and back
redone frame
yada yada

The H1 is where the fun stuff is:
didn't make this tank but I did the seat
cut up frame with monoshock mount welded in
rear sets welded up
fzr 600 swinger with home made mounts to mount shock like an old ducati style
zxr front end with rim
rear is a matching rim from and ex650 (narrower that the zx6 so I could fit it inbetween the swinger.

Engine mods:
New bottom end, rebuilt crank
stage II engine
new overbore
reeds
mikuni 34's
redone squish band.
When its all back together I am hoping for upper 80's hp

;)
