Wow Von, that was awesome! Thank you. I think we could write a book with what's been posted in this thread. Just awesome.
I love everything you said but this is so cool, "Thank you Kanticoy for this rolling middle finger to the status quo!" ;D ;D ;D
Edit: I just re-read your post again Von and wow I got chills. Wow brother well said! You can't quote one line of that without quoting the whole thing!

LOL!  That's great!  She's currently looking for a sexy girlfriend on the pages here!  sexy bikes have to be lesbians so that they can fulfill more than one of our fantasies.  This has been discussed.
Hahahah, too funny!
You don't want her to completely switch to the “L” team, Right?? Because there would be a chance she may not return. After that if they do return, good luck making them happy! You change her oil or maybe do a proper tune up but she's never quite the same. She just doesn’t appreciate you any more.
What I hope for is that my bike will hang with another female bike and once they get comfortable, she brings her home with her. She then encourages me to take her new friend for a spin once in awhile. Bonus if my bike wants to tag along! ;D

Whew, sorry to get off track but I just wanted to make sure Gretta heads to her first dance and is not confused.
I now return you to Gretta’s Grand Début.

LOL!  Funny you mention that Leon, here is a true story.

As I parked her on the sidewalk and waited for my wife to pull up with the paddock stand, people who were walking around started congregating around Gretta and taking pictures.  The employees from inside then started coming outside.  The security guards came up to me and said "Man, this thing belongs in there, not here!  That looks better than some of the bikes on display!"

They then proceeded to take pictures.  The museum curator (I assume) came outside and introduced herself and started chatting with me.  She asked my permission to take a professional picture of Gretta and add it and a bit of info to a "patron book" that they're working on.  I of course agreed!  It really made my day that the staff of such a world class museum loved Greta so much.  It was really cool!

HAHAH.. Im sure that happened after!!.. But how long were you in the county jail before they realized that none of the bikes were missing from the display?....

Damn it Von.  You sir get the shit that makes me breathe.

I can't tell you the place in the world that my dirty hands have given me, but then again, I don't have to.  It is my therapy, and it is what defines me.  It really is a fringe lifestyle that we have taken upon ourselves to inhabit.  It's really a feat that artists have been delving in since the beginning of time.  It is taking what other people don't want, and then turning it into the unrecognizable, un-sheltered destroyer of trends and vanity induced consumption.

It's so easy to have someone tell you who and what to be, then you spend the money and join a clique that sets ground rules and borders.

I always did like coloring outside of the lines.  I always loved escaping the advertisements and pissing on the billboard lifestyle.  It really explains why I started getting tattooed at 17 and buying my music from shows and thrift stores instead of retail stores.  It's why a junkyard is a playground, and a Harley dealership is inspiration quelling.

A "Normal" person is the sort of person that might be designed by a committee.  You know, "Each person puts in a pretty color and it comes out gray."

I am so glad that there are still some people out there that refuse to believe that chrome is better than spray paint, and that rust is automatically the equivalent of refuse and is unquestionably bound for the garbage can.  Old is good, and new is the executioner of self reliance.  God bless the man or woman who "buys" parts and pieces of the puzzle from the dump.

This sums it all up:

"Our concern must be to live while we're alive... to release our inner selves from the spiritual death that comes with living behind a facade designed to conform to external definitions of who and what we are."  ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Thank you all DTT family for getting what makes me who I am.  It's good to have friends!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your work of art. That is trully what your bike is. I admired every bend on that frame before I  moved on to the pieces added later on. Evry part was carefully thought out. Nothing was left to chance, and for that I really apreciate this feast to my eyes.

The heck with BOTM.

This should start a Bike of the Year (which I'm sure it will happen)

What will come next?

I wonder.........
1973 Yamaha TX650
1972 Honda CB450
1971 Honda SL350 x 2
1972 Honda CL350

Man, thank you xulf.  You humble me brother.  I'm really glad that you love her as much as you do and appreciate what really makes this bike.  Your compliments are extremely appreciated man.

As far as what's next, I have a few projects in the wings that I'll be working on simultaneously.  So far here is the list:

1972 Yamaha R5....going for a 2 stroke cafe
1972 Honda CL100....building a small displacement repli-racer for the wife (and admittedly myself!)
1982 Harley Ironhead Sportster....going custom framed bobber on this one

The small guy will be getting the most attention so I can get the better half a ride for the summer.

I am also working on my new 40x40 shop so I can get out of the cramped zone and have some room to breathe!  My projects are taking over my tiny space right now. I'll keep you guys posted though for sure man!

  >:(  Kiley this bike sux! I could have done a better paint job with a knap roller and some finger paint! You should have had this bitch running six months ago if you had any mechanical ability at all! I can not believe you mono-shocked a vintage bike, not to mention you stretched the swinger! This isnt a goddamn super street custom! You cut up history and discrased the Honda name! You should be kicked in the nuts!

Oh, wrong site, I thought I was on SOHC.com!  ;D

Just kidding man, you know how I really feel about Gretta, just needed to bring some attitude back to all the bromancing going on in this thread!  :)

I think we can all agree, best built so far on DTT.  Can't wait to see who/if someone tops Gretta.  Love the bike, and I think we don;t have to vote for BOTM, jus tput Gretta in the banner for April.

Cheers,

I hope I get to see her in person, and meet the man who built her. I'll bring the Bushmills to toast her with in July.
