So I have been coming to this website for a while, to get info and idea's. I own a 1980-1981-CM400 1982 CM450, all in pieces now.
And recently started to build my own bobber.
I want it low, with drag bars. Two into one exhaust. Flat black. Dont know from there. I'll post more pic's.
Here is what I'm starting with,
So I decided to use the 80cm frame because it was cleaner of the 3, and a set of 79 CB rim's that I bought for $40. And
the CM450 front end. Made some strut's. And ended up with this.
Didn't like the rear fender idea, so I cut the ass end off.
sweet! a little work and youll have yourself a sweet ride for sure.
id reccomend a stretched swingarm, it'l get the bike lower and give it that nice subtle length.
lowering the front a tad would look pretty cool.
what are you going to do first?
One day I plan on stretching out the swingarm. My brother and I are purchasing a welder soon.I like the front end the way it is now.
Here is a current pic of it taken yesturday. I cleaned it and painted the frame, wah up the wheel's and fork's.
Cut down the kickstand aswell.
I have a shorter set of fork's of the CB hat i got the rim's off of, I plan on useing the motor from that bike aswell because I want
it to have a kick start. And the motor only has about 5000mi. on it
out sheer of blind beginerness i have to ask, how much does chopping the end off the bike effect the bike overall. That small chop you did to remove any fender mounts etc. any stability or frame flex problems to be aware of? I love the look, so i'm wondering whether or not to try it.

I have not noticed any flex/problem's so far. I did some more work on it this past few day's here are some current pic's.. Trying out different bar's, dont know if I want to run ape's or drag bar's... I welded up what I like to call my ass protector. I have alot more welding/bracing to do this weekend, have to finish up the swingarm. I'm the fat guy!!! ;D Oh yeah I also swapped out the cm450 fork's for the cb400 fork's there's like a 4" or 5" difference in front end drop.
I like the springs in back, Hardtails are cool but I'm diggin the use of springs. Hopefully accomedates for a better ride.
Are those the stock springs you used? just fabbed mounts on the trimmed frame?

Looking good! I prefer the drag bars, that's what I'm going with on my CM400, but I've thought of apes as well. If you go Apes, I'd personally go with something a bit higher than what you've got there.

If I stay with the ape's they will defenently will be higher, those are just what I had laying around. Thank's for the positive comment's. I'm also building 2 of them so one will have drag bar's and the other will have ape's.
Hello. I'm new ad of the last 5 min. This is an older post... However, if someone sees this, should I start my own topic to post pics of my project, or should add to one already created?
