My wife got me this for fathers day:

It's a Hennesy Hammock. From what I've read online people love them.
I'm done. I'm beaten. I finally quit. I'm cleaning shop over the next couple weeks. So I'll be getting back to anybody / everybody what I owe.

Just checked the Hennessy website - they look the business for travelling light!

If I can figure out a method for hanging one without two conveniently spaced trees I will definitely get one.

You would be surprised Stroker - there is an entire forum dedicated to hammock camping (hammockforum.com I think?). When I first got mine, I hooked it up to the one tree on my property and a cargo tie-down in the bed of my truck. I've seen a pic of a hammock tied down to one tree, going over top of a set of handlebars, and anchored into the ground with a stake.

I don't think I'll be riding to Kiley's anytime soon - it's a bit out of range from Oz!

As an alternative I'll see if I can find some ideas on  http://www.hammockforums.net/
Thanks for the forum heads-up Big Rich.

I've got a Hennessy  ......... Bloody brilliant, best nights sleep going. Especially good if you put a sheepskin rug under you to keep your heat in. Have slept in it in the worst weather. A most excellent purchase.

Hey Rich, didn't you fall on the ground the first time you used that hammock?

Not the softness I'm worried about; that is to be expected. It's that they are squeaking and binding. the rear has a lot of bind to it, so they will definitely need replacing. If I can get the front to free up some more and stop squeaking, then it will remain original. Good tip on the recess. My dad knows these bikes really well; he learned to ride on one and it a c70 was his first bike.  It was awesome to watch how quickly he shifted it into neutral; he commented on how natural it felt despite the fact that he hasn't ridden a cub for over 25 years.

The squeaking is springs rubbing on covers, just dismantle, clean and grease
Probably a good idea to clean fork links and re-grease them as well, they usually start squeaking about 2~3 yrs old so any grease that was in there will probably be rock hard by now

Picked this up over the weekend to use back and forth to work and throw a set of bags on and head out for a day or more .....

Second year was a fantastic sport tourer (problem with second gear on first year)
If I was doing a lot of miles I would have one in a heartbeat (or the 1200)
Fastest I've ever been on a bike was a modified FJ1100 (around 165)
Friend of mine had one and managed to get 80mpg out of it on runs (never went over 80mph though)
He was also getting about 12,000 miles from rear tyre
Still needed tyre every 6~8 weeks, he did a LOT of miles

Hey Rich, didn't you fall on the ground the first time you used that hammock?

Kinda. I couldn't understand the directions when it came to tying the side down. The knot I used slid up the rope once I sat on the hammock, so I ended up sitting on the ground.
