By the way - you should get yourself a new chain (and rear sprocket) ASAP....otherwise the mis-match of old and new will have either your new sprocket wearing out quick, or the chain wearing out more (worst case scenario is the chain snaps and smashes your purdy drilled cover to bits  :o).

Hate to see all that polishing and drilling go to waste.

Very nice bike to start with, it obviously spent it's life indoors.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I have been wanting to fab up some rear sets, but was putting off any more mods until after Barber's....but fuck it! So I had a ton of work to do to get them to work, but I am almost there now. I have to finish up the shifter side, but the hard side was the brake side so I did it first. I took some rear sets from my old CBR600 and modified them to work. I cut off the heel guards to start. I also had to cut a tab and weld it to the brake lever as the CBR was hydrolic rear brakes while the 350 has mechanical. After a bit if cutting, torch welding (I dont have a welder yet), grinding, and bending I got the brake side done minus actually mounting the brackets, but I just need the right hardware for that and it will be done quick. Mounting and adjusting the connecting rod length is all I have to do for the shifter side and I will have rear sets! Here is the pics....I know how much you guys like'em!
Rear sets before mods

After a little cutting

Some mods on the brake lever to work with mechanical brakes

Shifter linkage

A shot of the brake side done except bolted

I hope to get it finished up over the next two or three days, I am going to paint the brackets black

nice work. I'll be doing something similar for my 400f, so thanks for the tutorial  ;)

too nice to paint black IMO. Show your work off dude. A nice brushed finish I reckon.

cheers

Thanks Ian, but black it will be, with the plan for this bike to have a real vintage look and feel, I want the brackets to blend in and not stand out. I have other parts that I want to be nice and shiney. Since the brackets have a maodern look I will just black them so they are more muted. Thank you and Josh for the compliments, and if you have any questions when you get into your 400f's rear sets feel free ask!

Looks to me like you need to re-work shift linkage, going to be missing up-shifts with that angle.
Bend it out to clear case and mount more 'vertical'
'you can take my word for it or argue until you find out I'm right'
I gave my girlfriend an orgasm the other night, but, she spat it back at me

Or mount the linkage underneath the shaft and use a longer rod.
